Bakeri Joy @ Taman Megah, Petaling Jaya

I've passed by Bakeri Joy multiple times for so many years, but never once stepped in to check the place out. The bakery has been there for years, same row as Fatty Crab Restaurant in Taman Megah.

It is a small, casual bakery which also serves home-cooked comfort food.

It is a family run bakery. The moment you stepped in, you'll see a friendly elderly sitting next the entrance greeting the patrons.

The inside of the bakery scream simple family-run business too - a few wooden chairs and marble table top, bread and buns displayed on your left along with some pastries, and cakes on your right.

Nyonya Curry Laksa
One of their signature dishes is the Nyonya Curry Laksa (RM8.50). It's a bowl of simple yet aromatic dish that made up of fish cakes, bean sprouts, prawns, chicken, and tofu puffs. However, if you prefer your curry laksa to be in think gravy, then this might not be want you are looking for; but still the aromatic coconut milk in the curry laksa still worth a try. Also, do not have to worry about the spiciness of this dish - they have made it to be neighbourhood-friendly, and is not spicy.

Milk Tea
During my second visit to the bakery, I've decided to try out their nasi lemak. I've heard good comments on their nasi lemak too.

Nasi Lemak Ayam
Apart from their Nyonya curry laksa, they are well-known for their nasi lemak too.

Nasi Lemak Ayam

Though it doesn't have fancy presentation, but the dish has a homely taste to it - aromatic rice along with chicken rendang, ikan bilis, roasted peanuts, hard-boiled egg and sambal on the side. The sambal is really a killer and I love it! Don't get me wrong, the sambal wasn't overly-spicy, but it just tasted so good.

Hainanese Thick Toast
It's very difficult to get nice toast nowadays. The bread are either too soggy or over-toasted, or the kaya just doesn't taste good. The Hainanese Thick Toast (RM3) was perfectly toast and spread with a thick layer of kaya and butter. They will serve wholemeal toast by default, unless they ran out of it or you specially requested for normal white toast. The toast has a nice crunch on the outside. The kaya was fragrant and the sweetness was just nice. I enjoyed the toast a lot.

Freshly-made pastries

The pastries looked so tempting and we were having a difficult time choosing which to buy.

Kaya Puffs & Durian Puffs
I did not try out the puffs but I heard they were not bad.

Please go there earlier, so that you could avoid parking problems and able to grab a sit before the crowd pours in.
