Newest Bouquets of Flowers you Don't Wanna Miss

A Better Florist is a KL florist that I have spotted a while ago, and ever since I did they have been a part of my life whenever I need a flower or gift delivery. If you’re looking for a florist that has imagination and experience, and knows how to bring flowers to life through creative and fresh arrangements, this is the Malaysia flower delivery for you. I’ve had quite a few chances to test out flower shops, as whenever I go to an event, or have someone’s birthday or need a baby hamper for someone’s baby shower, my go-to was always a flower shop. Now, I shop mostly online via A Better Florist, as they make it convenient to do shopping quickly. Even if I’m on the street, I just grab my phone and go to their website and I’m able to make a purchase right then and there.

I also love to use their delivery, because if you place an order before 3pm, they can deliver on the same day, which is fantastic. It enables you to never miss out on those important occasions. It’s also free if you order it like that, and I’m not the one to miss out on a great deal. Ever since I discovered their flower delivery and I was convinced that they always keep their promise, I was addicted to A Better Florist. If you want to try them out in Malaysia they also have an Ipoh florist, a JB florist and a Penang florist too.
What I like most about their flowers as they are super fresh every single time. There’s also something that can’t be explained when it comes to their arrangements. It’s the kind of creativity you just have to see on your own. I love every single arrangement or bouquet that they put on their website. If you like your bouquets to be more custom, you can of course request a custom bouquet to be made just for you.
And they don’t stop there. They also have a collection of some of the best hampers I’ve seen in Malaysia, in addition to fruit baskets. These are all great ideas for gifts, especially when the holidays season kicks in.
If you love A Better Florist, but you’re not in Malaysia, you can also find them as a Singapore florist, as well as a popular Hong Kong flower delivery that has an amazing HK flower delivery, and an UAE florist that is known for their creative flowers UAE can purchase.

If you love beautiful flowers, and you never want to settle for anything less than the best, then I think A Better Florist is the florist that’s going to fit in perfectly into your vision.

Hello Natural Co: Handcrafted Natural Skin Care

12:26 becky-wong 0 Comments

I love experimenting and trying out new beauty products, especially when they are handcrafted. In my quest of exploring local handcraft skin care, I came across Hello Natural.

Hello Natural doesn't not have a huge range of products, but they put lots of care and thoughts when it comes to their products. Their products are made with all natural ingredients, no harsh chemicals and it is cruelty free. On top of these, Hello Natural is Malaysia's first active charcoal-infused natural deodorant and dry hair shower.

The packaging is simple and the pink tone gives a slight feminine touch to the product.

Relax Essential Oil Blend (RM 39.95). It's no secret that essential oil has many benefits and it has been used for more than 5,000 years as natural remedies for various conditions and also to improve the health of skin, hair and body. Hello Natural's Relax Essential Oil is made up of sweet almond oil, and 100% pure essential oil (lavender, lemongrass, frankincense, rose geranium, and sweet orange) which are imported & certified in the US. The essential oil has a nice sweet smell but isn't too overpowering. For someone who really doesn't like sweet fragrance, this is perfect!

There are 3 different ways to use the essential oil:

1. Roll the applicator ball across the palms several times & rub palms together and massage onto your neck & shoulder for anxiety relief.
2. Rub onto the bottoms of your feet. The sweet almond oil will leave your skin softened and the relax essential oil blend will relax your mind. This is perfect for anytime, even just before bed!
3. Direct palm inhalation - Rub a drop or 2 of the essential oil together in the palms with a deep inhalation is an excellent way to bring about relaxation as needed throughout the day.

The size of the essential is perfect to be carried around, especially in a handbag.XXX

The Dry Shower Deodorant Powder (RM 39.95). Malaysia is a tropical country and we get to enjoy the sun-shiny weather all year long, but at the same time, but constant sweating is also something most of us have to deal with daily too. If you are a "sweater" like me, then you'll know the importance of a good deodorant, and thank God I found one with Hello Natural Co.

The deodorant is handcrafted with different blend of herbs and natural clays: Sodium bicarbonate, Zea mays (corn) starch, Kaolin clay, Diatomaceous earth, Lavender powder, activated charcoal and essential oils.

The bottle actually kind of reminded me of a baby powder bottle.

Since it's a dry shower deodorant powder, the texture is slightly coarse and not as fine as the usual body powder. I really love the mild floral lavender scent, and although it is written as dry shampoo deodorant, you can actually use it on your entire body including keeping those feet smelling fresh! I tried it at my underarms and I find it to be very refreshing.

Australian Pink Clay Mask (RM 39.99). The clay mask is a 100% natural & chemical free face mask that soothe, calm & rehydrates the skin perfectly. The mask is said to not only firms and detoxifies the skin but also helps to cleanse and remove stubborn sebum clogging the pores, which gives the skin a clearer and healthier complexion.

The pink clay also balances the oil and water levels for a healthier vibrant complexion, while the hydrating properties help to refine delicate lines, moisturize and improve the overall skin complexion.

The texture of the clay mask is really fine and soft. If you are wondering if the clay mask is only suitable for any particular skin type, the answer is all skin type! It all depends on how you use it:

Normal/Oily/Combination Skin:
1. Use the mini spoon provided, mix 2 heaped spoonful of clay mask to 4-5 spoons of milk/water
2. Mix until you form a paste
3. Apply to the face for 10 minutes (Do not exceed 10 minutes as this tends to dry out the skin)
4. Wash thoroughly with warm water, followed by face toner & moisturizer
5. Use this 2 times a week

Sensitive/Dry Skin:
1. Use the mini spoon provided, mix 2 heaped spoonful of clay mask to 4-5 spoons of water/milk/aloe vera gel/rosewater/yoghurt
2. Mix until you form a paste
3. For extra hydration boost, add 1 mini spoon of honey
4. Apply to face to 10 minutes (Do not exceed 10 minutes as it tends to dry out the skin)
5. Wash with warm water thoroughly, followed by face toner & moisturizer
6. Use this once a week.

You can choose to mix your clay mask with water, toner, yoghurt or even ampoule, if you'd like. I like to mix mine with toner, but sometimes I'll just use water only. If you are unsure how much to mix into your clay mask, I'd recommend you use the mini spoon to add them bit by bit into the mask. You don't want to add too much, as this will make the mask too runny to apply. Also, use a brush to apply the mask instead of your fingers, as it is much easier and more hygiene.

The clay mask smells SO GOOD with the Lavender scent!!! I feel so relaxing while using the mask. I've tried several clay masks and I always find them to be quite difficult to rinse off. It will usually require me to do a few rounds of cleansing to thoroughly remove the mask on my face. However, the clay mask from Hello Natural is so easy to remove, and it didn't leave any residue on my face. I totally love this clay mask!

Overall, Hello Natural Co. has certainly delivered in products I've bought. If you are looking for natural hand-made skin care products, Hello Natural Co. is a good choice.

Freaking Wholesome @ Bangsar South: Delicious Hand-crafted Raw & Vegan Treats!

15:14 becky-wong 0 Comments

Living in a fast-paced, fast-changing time, we constantly find ourselves trying to keep up. Thank God the society is getting more health-conscious - keeping a healthy & active lifestyle, as well as having a healthier diet.

Speaking of diet, we can easily get healthy salad and mains, but what about desserts and sweet treats? Dessert doesn't only complete a meal, but many opt for desserts when they are feeling down or want to cheer themselves up. If you are a fan of sweet treats but also concern over your diet, then you really should check out Freaking Wholesome!

Founded by Ee Lin, Freaking Wholesome is an online dessert shop that offers handcrafts, unconventional, raw treats. After coming back from Bermuda, she realized there aren't many desserts shops for health-conscious eaters, vegans or people who are lactose intolerant. Hence, she started experimenting some desserts in her kitchen that are free from dairy, eggs, refined sugar, artificial colouring and preservative.

I like how they have kept their cakes simple and with lots of natural ingredients such as raw nuts, seeds, fruits and organic rice malt syrup.

Let's start with some cupcakes!

Assorted Mini Raw Cupcakes (RM 55). There are 8 cupcakes in a box. All of them look so pretty with the glossy frostings. Usually I'll just scrap away the frostings and whipped cream, but since these are made with natural ingredients such as nuts, coconut cream, date syrup and organic rice syrup, I figured I'd give these babies a try.

Coffee Caramel. Each mouthful is a bursting of intense coffee aroma and perfectly balanced with the sweetness from the caramel.

Triple Chocolate (Left) | Coco Pineapple (Right). Chocolate lovers, no more feeling guilty from this creamy, chocolatey semi-sweet Triple Chocolate cupcake! On a lighter note, the Coco Pineapple is pretty refreshing and I like the tropical touch of the coconut flavours.

Strawberry Beet. One of my favourite from the treats of Freaking Wholesome. It tasted much lighter than the chocolate cupcakes; and if you are not really a fan of chocolate, this might be your choice.

Assorted Wholesome Bars (RM 55). 6 wholesome bars with 3 different flavours.

Orange Cranberry. Chocolate, orange and cranberry is really a match-make in heaven. The rich chocolate goes perfectly well with the zesty orange, tanginess of the cranberries.

Peanutty Nougat a.k.a Snickers (Left) | Sea Salted Caramel (Right). I'm not a big fan of chocolate, but peanut and chocolate is one of my favourite combinations. You can never go wrong with nuttiness of the peanuts and chocolate. On the other hand, the hint of sea salt in the Sea Salted Caramel added a nice savoury touch to the dessert.

Assorted Petite Cakes (RM 55). These petite cakes are really pretty and the colours are just vibrant!

Classic Chocolate. Nothing beats a classic chocolate that is moist and rich.

Lemon Drop. Tangy, zesty and lemony - everything you like in a lemon cake.

Turkish Delight. Unlike the usual Turkish Delight that are too sugary, Freaking Wholesome's version of Turkish Delight is truly a delight - not too sweet, yet it has a pleasant hint of rose and nutty pistachio.

Matcha. Last but not least, the all-time favourite - Matcha.

Overall, desserts and sweet treats from Freaking Wholesome are really deliciously awesome. A perfect choice to satisfy your dessert cravings while not compromising your healthy diet. There are a few things to be noted though, since these are made from raw ingredients, the textures are not as smooth as your conventional desserts and cakes. It has more bite and you'll find the base is slightly coarse. Apart from these treats, Freaking Wholesome offers whole cake options too!

These raw desserts are best to be eaten chilled and can be stored in fridge for 3 days as they are made with natural ingredients and free from preservative. Freaking Wholesome doesn't have a physical store, but you can purchase their cakes online. For Assorted Mini Raw Cupcakes and Assorted Wholesome Bars require 2 days lead time, while Assorted Petite Cakes and whole cake requires 3 days lead time. Freaking Wholesome delivers throughout Klang Valley and their delivery fees varies depending on location.

Wood & Wheat @ Tropicana Avenue: Wood-Fired Asian Fusion Pizza

15:07 becky-wong 0 Comments

There is no doubt that pizza is one of the most popular foods in the world. Whether it's a pot-luck, house warming or a get-together event, pizza will always be a default go-to on the menu. Pizza is so versatile you could hardly go wrong with any toppings. Over the years, we've seen some quite crazy-flavoured pizzas such as the Durian Pizza, but one new player in Tropicana Avenue decided to take it to another level!

Wood & Wheat is a new player in the F&B scene in Tropicana Avenue. Owned by the same mind that started Good Blue Men, Wood & Wheat is here to bring wood-fired pizzas in Asian flavours.

Sitting in between Subway and Burger King, Wood & Wheat is a 2-storey pizza joint, where you'll be greeted with a kitchen of staff stretching pizza dough and putting them into a brick oven. Inspired by Asian flavours, Wood & Wheat has put a good twist of Asian twist into their pizzas - from Chinese Kam Heong to mamak Pasembur.

Kam Heong Royale (RM 38). One of my favourite pizzas at Wood & Wheat. Thin-crusted pizza topped with kam heong sauce and chicken bits that are beautifully spiced with 13 different types of herbs and spices.

Ever bite is just an explosion of flavours. On other hand, the Kam Heong Royale might be too spicy for you, if you have low tolerance in spicy food.

One other way to experience the pizzas at Wood & Wheat is to have it in Half Half (RM 42).

Fiery Masala (Left) | Rendang-Licious (Right). Fans of spices, these 2 flavours are not-to-be-missed.

The Fiery Masala hits all the right notes of a good masala dish with tender lamb slices.

Topped with beef meatballs, onions, chillies and homemade rendang sauce, the Rendang-Licious is another must-try for any true Malaysians.

The Pasembur (Left) | Thairiffic Tom Yum (Right).

The other favourite of mine at Wood & Wheat is The Pasembur. Generously topped with fried beancurds, papadom, shredded carrots, the slightly sweet Pasembur sauce goes very well with the doughy base of the pizza.

Thairiffic Tom Yum - the all-time favourite of Thai and a good choice for a not-so-spicy option, but still have a good amount of kick in the spices.

Tastebud Refresher (RM 4). Cleanse your palate with some refreshing crunchy cucumber before moving on to your next slice of pizza.

Ryan's  Nachos (RM 9). Thin and crunchy nachos served with creamy dipping sauce. These babies can be quite addictive.

Zesty Chicken Finger (RM 12) with garlic lemon sauce.

Minty Lemonade (RM 11) | Candy Lime (RM 11). A cup of cold and fizzy soda is just what you need to wash down the flavourful pizzas.

Keeping authenticity is important but is not a bad idea to throw in some creative twist once in a while too, especially when the outcome is finger-licking pizzas that are bursting with Asian flavours. The pizzas are carefully hand-stretched and put into a brick oven, which gives the dough a nice chewy texture with crispy edges.

On top of their Asian flavours, you can find your everyday Triple Cheese and Boring Margherita on their menu too. To keep their pizzas exciting, Wood & Wheat will be collaborating with different brand every month to create new and exciting pizzas flavours! A little birdie told us they are collaborating with Beard Brothers' BBQ in Tropicana Avenue, and it's no secret that Beard Brothers' BBQ serves one of the best barbecue in town!!!
