Neutrogena Hydrogel Mask & Capsule Sleeping Mask

20:42 becky-wong 0 Comments

I tend to be very lazy in lots of things, but when it comes to facial mask, I'm probably one of the most diligent person you'll ever known. Because I have a pretty busy schedule and always on the go, it is very important for me to have some "me time" at night to pamper my skin. I'm constantly on the lookout for facial masks, and recently I get to try out 2 new masks from Neutrogena!

First, let's have a look at the Neutrogena Hydrogel Mask.

Compared to wash-off masks, sheet masks is so much more convenient, especially if you are travelling. The Neutrogena Hydrogel Mask is an 100% paperless mask which holds up to 50% more essence than a paper face mask. As the hydrogel melts, the serum on the mask is absorbed into the skin. On top of this, the face mask contours the skin nicely and seals in its hydrating formula for optimal absorption too.

The hydrogel mask comes in 2 variants:
 - Fine Fairness Hydrogel Mask - contains Niacinamide which leaves skin luminous and radiant looking.
- Hydro Boost Hydrogel Mask - contains 100% natural derived Hyaluronic Acid to replenish moisture continuously, leaving skim optimally hydrated, radiant and supple.

After a hectic December month, I'm gonna try out the Hydro Boost Hydrogel Mask.

There are 2 parts to the mask - one for the cheek and chine, the other for the forehead and nose. I like this design better, as I get to adjust the mask to fit my face nicely. Unlike the usual one-piece sheet mask, it is either covering a corner of my eye or my lips. I notice the mask is thinner than the usual hydrogel mask. I was expecting lots of dripping of the serum, but to my surprise there was none.

As per instruction, I put on the mask for 15 minutes before removing it. Usually there will not quite a bit of excess serum left on my face after I remove my sheet mask, but not this time. There was hardly any serum left on the mask itself, and I believe my skin really needs all the moisture from the mask.

The Hydrogel gel is ONLY available in Guardian with RM 13.90 per piece.

Next up, the Neutrogena Capsule Sleeping Mask.

Same as the hydrogel mask, there are 2 variants to the capsule sleeping mask too:

- Fine Fairness Capsule Sleeping Mask - contains Niacinamide which leaves skin luminous and radiant looking.
- Hydro Boost Capsule Sleeping Mask - contains 100% natural derived Hyaluronic Acid to replenish moisture continously, leaving skim optimally hydrated, radiant and supple.

The sleeping mask comes in 10ml size, and it is actually too much for one-time usage. You can store the capsule in the fridge too cool it down so you can have a much better experience applying the mask. Same goes to the sheet mask, these capsules are really super convenient as an on-the-go fix. Apart using it as a sleeping mask, you can also apply a thin layer and leave it on for about 15 minutes to rejuvenate your skin.

The sleeping mask has a thicker and slightly creamy texture. After chilling it in the fridge, I used it as a 15 minutes mask. I really like the cooling effect which helps a lot in soothing my skin. However, instead of 15 minutes, the mask dries up just after 7-8 minutes. I guess my skin is really dry and in need of the moisture. If your skin is on the dry side, you might want to consider using it as a sleeping mask or apply a thicker layer, if using as a 15 minutes mask.

The Neutrogena Capsule Sleeping Mask is ONLY available at Watsons at RM 12.90 per capsule.

Personally, I'd both the hydrogel mask and sleeping mask pretty good, but my vote would go to the capsule sleeping mask. Though the pricing can be a bit steep, but I do think the products deliver in terms of results and convenience wise. Unfortunately, both products are sold separately at Guardian and Watsons.

La Biosthetique Protection Cheveux Complexe (PCC) Treatment: A Long Lasting Hair Treatment!

21:15 becky-wong 0 Comments

Most of us put lots of efforts in taking care of our skin. From skincare to putting on makeup, we would go the distance to make sure that we look good. However, there is one part of our body that most of us neglect - our hair!

With all the colouring, perming and straightening, the chemicals we used are actually very harmful to our hair. It is very important to get your hair treatment done, once a month if possible, to ensure your hair is in good condition. Though is a good idea to do your hair treatment at home, but it is also very important to drop by a salon regularly to get proper treatment that could last for a long time. Recently, I've came across the new La Biosthetique Protection Cheveux Complexe (PCC) Treatment while attending media preview.

La Biosthetique was founded in 1950s, and it has an international reputation for its premium quality products. Each product is created with intensive research and produce on the outskirts of the Black Forest. Using only high quality raw materials, products of La Biosthetique are subjected to strict tolerability and efficacy test at European University Clinics to ensure they are safe to be used without testing on animals.

The PCC Treatment has been bio-chemically engineered for a lasting regeneration of the damaged hair. Instead of fixing the surface, this groundbreaking treatment works on damaged hair from within and hence, the long lasting effect than other ordinary hair treatments. Apart from making your hair silky smooth, PCC Treatment also helps to rebuild the natural bonds in your hair and increase the strength in the hair.

An interesting talk by Mr. Alexander from La Biosthetique on the treatment. It was really an informative yet interesting talk, and I learnt something new from it.

A live demo on the PCC Treatment.

I was amazed by the instant result of the PCC Treatment. Just after one treatment the hair is bouncier, healthier and less frizzy. It is really soft to the touch too.

If you are looking for an instant fix to your hair that gives you long lasting results, the Protection Cheveux Complexe (PCC) Treatment is definitely a good option. On top of getting your PCC Treatment done in salon, La Biosthetique also has home treatment range where you can make sure your hair gets the best!

HK Boy Cart Noodle @ Pavilion Kuala Lumpur: Hong Kong Street Food

22:19 becky-wong 0 Comments

Growing up watching Hong Kong drama, not only taught me how to speak Cantonese; but it gave me an idea of Hong Kong culture, especially their food. One of the many delicacies of Hong Kong that I've always wanted to try is their cart noodle.

As the name suggested, a person will push his or her cart around selling their noodles; hence, the name "cart noodle". You can mix and match your noodles with sides such as pig intestines, luncheon meat, chicken feet, pigs' blood and many more yummy sides. If you are a fan of Hong Kong street food, you can now have a taste of their street food at HK Boy Cart Noodle.

Owned by a Hong Kong chef, HK Boy Cart Noodle opened up their first outlet in Mahkota Cheras in 2016, and followed by their 2nd branch in Puchong. Recently, they have landed in Pavilion in December 2017 with their 3rd outlet.

HK Boy Cart Noodle is located on Level 1, opposite Old Town White Coffee. The interior of their Pavilion outlet is the same as their 2 other branches.

Walking into HK Boy Cart Noodle, I was immediately transported to Hong Kong with the street name signs and the coloured-papers on the wall.

Egg Waffle with Cheese (RM 9.90). Egg waffle or eggette is a must have when travelling in Hong Kong. The crispy crust and fluffy insides is really addictive, and this is one of my favourite street foods from Hong Kong. Apart from the usual egg waffle, you can enjoy your egg waffle with cheese at HK Boy Cart Noodle. Instead of melted cheese, you'll be biting into chucks of cheese in the waffles. Personally, I still prefer the original egg waffle.

Rice Noodle Roll (RM 6). I love rice noodle roll but usually I'd go for the ones with soya sauce. However, I'm a huge fan over the Rice Noodle Roll at HK Boy Cart Noodle. Why? Because.... of the thick and creamy peanut butter in the sauce! Who would have thought sweet sauce and peanut butter goes so perfectly well together. This is a must order, especially if you love peanut butter.

Large Pork Intestine (RM 3.90). Well-marinated pork intestines served with a dollop of mustard at the side. I like how the mild heat of the mustard nicely spiced up the intestine.

Fried Wanton (RM 3.90). Crispy Fried Wanton to add some textures to the noodles.

Fried Toufu (RM 2.90). The thin and crispy Fried Toufu makes a perfect side dish to go with the noodles.

Next... is the noodle! You can choose your preferred noodles and what sauce to go with. They have 7 types of noodles and 5 sauces for you to choose from, along with varieties of condiments to mix & match with your bowl of noodle. Just follow these 3 simple steps:

Step 1: Choose your preferred noodles
Step 2: Choose your preferred sauce(s)
Step 3: Choose your condiments

We decided to have 3 bowls of noodles with different sauce and condiments.

Hor Fun in Dried Scallop & Chicken Broth with Braised Sauce & Special Chili Sauce. We chose blood curd, luncheon meat and meatballs as our condiments. The broth by itself can be quite bland but after adding the braised sauce & chili sauce, it added extra depth and flavours to the broth. Personally, I really love the mild spiciness of the chili sauce.

Dried Yellow Noodle served with Braised Sauce & Special Chili Sauce. Personally, I don't really like the yellow as I could still taste the Alkaline in the noodles. However, the 3-layered pork is really tender and well-marinated.

Lo Shu Fun in Tomato Broth Soup. I was looking forward to the tomato broth, and HK Boy Cart Noodle didn't disappoint me at all. The tomato broth is packed with the umami flavours from the tomato and very appetizing. I highly recommend the tomato broth soup.

Hot Milktea (RM 6.90). Silky smooth milktea.

Iced Milktea (RM 6.90). Instead of adding ice cubes into the milktea, the bottle will be served in a bucket of ice. Not only you get to enjoy and quench your thirst with an icy drink, but it would not get diluted after the ice melted.

Milktea with Red Beans. If you are a red bean lover, you'd love this drink.

Pineapple Cooler Drink (RM 6.90). Sweet and fizzy, the Pineapple Cooler is perfect to have as a thirst quencher.

Salty Lemon 7-Up (RM 5.90). Pairing lemon/lime with salt and 7-up has always been a weird combination for me. On the other hand, the citrus notes, saltines and fizzy 7-Up go pretty well together.

Overall, the food at HK Boy Cart Noodle is really nice and I love the varieties of sides and condiments I get to choose from. My personal favourite would definitely have to be that bowl of tomato broth. I'm still missing it very much!! Also, compared to other restaurants in Pavilion, the pricing at HK Boy Cart Noodle is considerably reasonable. So, if you are in the mall, why not drop by and give it a try!

Caffe Bene ChocoCheese: Chocolate + Cheese for All the Ladies!

15:35 becky-wong 0 Comments

When it comes to dessert, we girls always have that extra space in us to eat more. So, you can only imagine my excitement when I found out Caffe Bene has launched a new series of dessert. To make it more exciting, it is a series with a heavenly combination of chocolate AND cheese!!

So, my friends and I went to the branch in Mid Valley to try the ChocoCheese ourselves. OK, it has been quite some time since I last stepped foot into any Caffe Bene branches, and I'm really liking the cosy feeling of their Mid Valley branch. Better still, there is a long table inside the cafe with power source, so that you can do some work while enjoying your desserts or coffee at Caffe Bene.

ChocoCheese Bingsu (RM 29.90). Caffe Bene is famous for their bingsu and you can't try their new series without having their bingsu. The ChocoCheese Bingsu is a combination of sweet chocolate and savoury cheese in a double sized bingsu!

Enjoy their signature shaved ice dessert served generously with sweet chocolate sauce, crunchy cookie crumble, cheese shavings and cheese sauce. Not to forget their toppings of cream cheese gelato and a slice of creamy cheese cake too!

ChocoCheese Bene Pastry (RM 21.90). Not a fan of icy dessert? Go for pastry then! Warm buttery pastry freshly prepared, topped with dark chocolate gelato, drizzled in ChocoCheese sauce with shaved cheese slices at the side. The pastry is soft and crumbly, and quite filling too.

ChocoCheese Mocha (RM 16.90). Chocolate and coffee is not a new combination, but with cheese?! Enjoy your favourite sweet aromatic Mocha topped with cheese foam. The sweet and savoury flavous are unimaginably delightful. The Mocha is available for both hot and cold option.

Chocolate and cheese lovers, dessert lovers.... don't miss out the chance to indulge yourself with your favourite dessert! The ChocoCheese series is the final seasonal menu of Caffe Bene for 2017. It is available from now till 7/1/2018.

Apart from ChocoCheese, Caffe Bene is also having promotion on every Wednesday too!

Good Blue Men @ Seksyen 17, PJ: Cosy Cafe Hidden Among the Neighbourhood of Seksyen 17

00:57 becky-wong 0 Comments

For the past few years, quite a few cafe owners have chosen Seksyen 17 in Petaling Jaya to open their business. It could be the neighbourhood, it could be the students nearby. No matter what is the reason, it is always good news for a foodie like me when there's a new eatery to explore. Recently, I came across a pretty interested cafe named Good Blue Men on Instagram, and gotten a chance to drop by the cafe to try out some of their food.

Good Blue Men doesn't have a huge variety on their menu. A few choices of sandwiches, couple of rice bowls, and some mains to satisfy the meat-lovers. Not only they have different menu choices from others, but you can definitely tell they have put their heart and soul into creating each of their dishes.

Cheezy Meltdown (RM 18). Serves with 3 types of cheeses, sauteed mushroom, hashbrown, tomato, homemade traditional white bread. This is a meltdown indeed! I can't help and started to salivate when I saw the cheese oozing out from the bread. If you love simple cheezy food, this is a must order.

Kam Heong Chicken (RM 21). Homemade kam heong sauce sauce with 13 herbs and spices, chicken breast, Arugula, Japanese cucumber, homemade Oregano toast. Apart from the Chinese dai chow stalls, this is my first time having kam heong in a sandwich form. I'd must say I love the spicy kam heong sauce that goes so perfectly well as a sandwich gravy. Who knew! On top of the Cheezy Meltdown, I've found another new love!

Beef Pineapple (RM 20). Slow cooked beef sauce, pulled beef, pickles, Jalapenos, pineapples, Cranberry toast. Tender and beefy fillings is a winner for me, but I could use without the pineapples. But then again, this is purely my personal preference.

Teriyaki Showdown - Chicken (RM 18). Rice bowl has been my favourite ever since I've discovered the existence of this "convenient" dish! A bowl of rice serves with sweet Teriyaki chicken, soft-boiled egg and some vegetables at the side. Don't forget to mix all the ingredients altogether and make sure you covered them nicely with the runny creamy egg yolk.

Beef Tomato Rice (RM 17). Love your beef bolognese sauce? Then you wouldn't want to miss out on this.

Disaster Platter (RM 17). Milky, choc and matcha pancake with ice cream, brownies, marshmallows and almond nibs. Looking at the stack of pancakes, I was a little bit skeptical over the dessert, but I totally changed my mind after the first bite. The pancakes are light and fluffy yet not too sweet despite all the brownies bits and chocolate sauce dressing. Girls, give this a try!

Blood Jack (RM 15). Sweet-tart pomegranate and lime juice mix with cola and double espresso. A nice play-off between the tangy notes of lime and sweetness of cola in the espresso.

Rusty Latte (RM 11). DON'T STIR OR SHAKE!!! Watch the espresso mix together with the milk as it flows down from the top. The entire process only take seconds but I felt it's pretty therapeutic to watch. LOL!

Espresso Mojito (RM 15). A little bit of fizzy and minty, very refreshing.

Mint To Be (RM 13). Bitter iced coffee at the bottom, fresh mint whipped cream on top. Speaking of mint, if you really love mint AND whipped cream, the Mint To Be might be your cup of coffee.

Although the Good Blue Men doesn't have any vibrant or eye-catching exterior, but good food and coffee are definitely the factors that would make you want to go back again.
