Citrus @ Bangsar Village 2

14:02 becky-wong 0 Comments

We've passed by Citrus many times, but never once stepped foot into the restaurant - until my mom recommended the place. It's located on the same floor as Borders and Lego shop. In fact, it is opposite Borders, next to Senjyu Japanese Restaurant.

This was my 3rd visit to the restaurant. They serve fusion cuisine, and their menu consists of Malaysian, Western and Pakistani food. Sounds confusing huh? If you are thinking that they might screw up the food due to this wide range of cuisines, you thought wrong. They have patrons pouring in during lunch and dinner hours.

Ordered drinking water to share. I like the Evian bottle. ^_^

Lamb Nasi Briyani
Joe ordered their infamous Lamb Nasi Briyani. The rice was fluffy and fragrant, you can taste the spices that goes into the rice.

I was kinda worry when I saw the lamb, it looks really dry. I was wrong! The lamb was tender and gamey, and I like it; but some might find it to be too gamey for their liking.

The pickled cucumbers were so-so for me. The taste was too mild for me, personally.

Angry Oleo
The Angry Oleo consist of zucchini, mushrooms, sautéed garlic and chili padi. I thought I would be really spicy and I was expecting that, but the heat was subtle.

The pasta was not too bad, though not as al dente as I would prefer, but it has some bite to it. I really love the mushrooms in it.

Our total bill was roughly about RM48. Overall, it was a satisfying meal. I would say their portion is actually quite big. So, for small eaters like me, it is advisable to share the food.

Another Visit to Mikey's Original New York Pizza

17:02 becky-wong 0 Comments

After my first visit to Mikey's Original New York Pizza, I went back a few more times to grab a quick dinner.

Meatballs Pizza (RM 10.88)
If you are looking forward to see meatballs sitting on your slice of pizza, you'll definitely feel disappointed. The Meatballs Pizza (RM 10.88) is topped with chunky meatballs, roasted peppers, and caramelized onions.

The 9-1-1 Pizza
Looking for something spicy? Try their 9-1-1 Pizza and challenge your tolerance! I was told that it's super spicy by my mom, even for someone that could tolerate spicy food. Personally, I felt it wasn't that bad. It's topped with mushrooms and varieties of chillies. Being said that, still... try out at your own risk.

The Brooklyn (RM 12.88)
We ordered the same waffle fries - The Brooklyn (RM 12.88). Crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside, smothered with cheddar cheese, and paired with a beef gravy.

Overall, I felt that the pizza tasted a little bit different from my first visit. However, it is still a decent place to have some pizzas.

Bookurve: Shopping for Books? Just A Click Away!

10:07 becky-wong 1 Comments

I have a good news for you book lovers out there!

First of all, let me just say, I understand how expensive books or reading materials can be in Malaysia. Bookurve is an online bookstore that offers the largest book selection with lowest price and FREE delivery!

Click on "Discovery" to access the Homepage. If you have a particular book in mind, go ahead and search via the search engine.

Click on the "Category" drop down and search for your preferred genre, and just scroll up and down the page to find your book. I personally prefer to search for books like this - with pictures of the cover page, instead of just a long list of book name. It is much more easier and less tiring for my eyes, when I'm trying to scroll and look for interesting reading materials. Apart from English books, they offer books in Bahasa Melayu too.

Found something interesting? Check out the synopsis!

Click on the cover page that you find interesting and check out the synopsis, and "Add to Cart" if it's your cup of tea.

 Fill in you shopping details.

And choose your payment method. Currently, they only accept offline payment via CIMB or Maybank. It would be better if they start to accept credit card payments. Once your payment is done, just wait for the book to be delivered to your doorstep.

Look what I've received from Bookurve!

New addition to my books collection! And yes... I love to shop for books, and I have tons of books in my shelf.

Ping Wah Restaurant - Hainanese Cuisine at Taman Paramount, Petaling Jaya

11:40 becky-wong 0 Comments

Ping Wah Restaurant is a simple eatery located along a stretch of shop lots, opposite The Giant Supermarket at Taman Paramount. They serve simple but delicious home-made Haininese cuisine.

Photo credited to: http://pingwah.com/
I've visited the restaurant various times, but it took me till now to write a post on it.

Hainanese Egg with Preserved Pickles
The egg white was fried till perfection with the preserved pickles, and raw egg yolk was poured over it. We've never failed to order this dish whenever we visit the restaurant. I love the fluffiness of the egg and the creaminess of the yolk on top of it.

Fried Fish with Black Bean Sauce
I've never really fancy any fried fish before, but I like this dish a lot. First of all, it has my favourite - black bean sauce! Secondly, although the fish was fried but the meat wasn't dry. It's a dish that I'll definitely add into my order list, the next time I'm there.

Stir-fry Choy Tam
They really do not know how to stir-fry a vegetable dish. The vegetable wasn't overcooked, and it still have that beautiful green and crunchiness to it. How I wish this is the case for most of the restaurants out there.

Fried Pork Ribs with Fermented Beancurd
We did not plan to order this, but ended up 3 dishes weren't enough for four of us. However, no regrets in adding this dish to our dinner. When it was served, I was preparing myself for a bone-dry pork ribs. How wrong I could have been! The pork ribs were nicely seasoned with the fermented beancurd, and the meat did not dry up from the frying.

P/S: I'm so sorry that I did not manage to take down the prices for this meal. However, if my memory serve my right, it wasn't too expensive.

Wang Chiew Seafood Restaurant @ SS 2, Petaling Jaya

10:13 becky-wong 0 Comments

Wang Chiew Seafood Restaurant is located inside the residential area of SS 2/103. The restaurant is nearby Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan SEA. The restaurant has 2 sections - air-conditioned and without air-conditioned (by the sidewalk). The place is usually packed with patrons. My family and I visited the place several times, and we had difficulties to get a table, as well as parking space.

Stir-fry Yau mak (baby romaine lettuce) with fermented beancurd (RM12)
Stir-fry Yau Mak with Fermented Beancurd (RM 12) has always been my favourite. The vegetables were decent, and it has a little heat from the chilli that has been added into the dish.

Butter Prawn Mantis (RM25)
Another decent dish from the restaurant. The butter prawn mantis (RM 25) was fried to crispy, but not too chewy; and I love the butter gravy coating the prawn mantis.

Marmite Pork Ribs (RM19)
The meat of the Marmite Pork Ribs (RM 19) were tender. The pork was coated with the beautiful glittering marmite, which I was worry would be too over-powering at first; but I was wrong.

Steamed Fish with Black Bean Sauce (RM 35)
The Steamed Fish with Black Bean Sauce (RM 35) was fresh, and the fish meat wasn't over-cooked. Another dish that goes perfectly well with rice!

The total bill was RM88 for 4 person. I would say is quite a decent, and reasonably cheap meal - judging that we ordered 2 seafood dishes that night - the prawn mantis and fish.

Three Little Pigs & The Big Bad Wolf @ Tropicana City Mall

09:43 becky-wong 0 Comments

Went to the Three Little Pigs & The Big Bad Wolf branch in Tropicana City Mall to grab a quick dinner with my mom last week.

We were early and managed to grab a table before the dinner crowds start pouring in. Since it was supposed to be a quick dinner, we both ordered a entrée and pasta to share.

Bacon and Egg Croquette (RM15)
I totally love the Bacon and Egg Croquette (RM15). Crispy on the outside, and moist on the inside. The fillings were coarsely mashed potatoes with smoked bacon and egg. You can't really taste the egg, but you can definitely taste the creaminess it added to the mashed potatoes. However, it could taste a bit bland without the dipping sauce. The dipping sauce is a mixture of chilli sauce and thousand island (I'm kinda sure is thousand island...).

Bacon and Egg Croquette (RM15)
 Next, come our pasta!

The Wolf's Favourite (RM29)
We ordered the same dish during my last visit to their Bangsar branch. The carbonara was creamy, and the crispy bacon added texture to the dish.

The Wolf's Favourite (RM29)
The poached egg was perfect! The runny egg added a touch extra of creaminess to the dish.

Our bill came to a total of RM48.40, without ordering drinks.

Sri Ganapathi Mess @ Petaling Jaya Old Town

13:54 becky-wong 0 Comments

I have huge love for Indian cuisine, as I really enjoy the spices; and when my colleague mentioned about this place in Petaling Jaya Old Town, I knew that I would definitely have to make a trip there myself. It was a challenge for me to find Sri Ganapathi Mess. It is located along row of houses, exact opposite of Sekolah Kebangsaan Petaling Jaya. It definitely will be a challenge to locate the eatery. However, if you spot the school, you can be sure that you are already nearby.

The entrance of Sri Ganapathi Mess
The eatery is at a corner lot, and with a big green bin at the side.

We were lucky to arrive there right before lunch, as the place does have some parking issues.

The entrance does look like a back door, but it really is THE ENTRANCE.

Choices for your fried dishes
The moment you step in, you'll come to their "fried kitchen". You can choose from the usual fried squid, chicken, or fish; or alternatively, you can try their friend lamb. I have yet to try their fried lamb, but would definitely give it a go the next time I'm there.

The eatery was converted from a house, so you can expect to see a layout like a living house - with rooms but filled with tables and chairs for patrons.

Rice Set
They have 2 type of rice for you to choose from - Par Boil Rice or white rice. The Pappadams I had were not as crispy, but no complaints on this.

Fried Squid
I must have fried squid, whenever I go for banana leaf rice. The squid were sliced into proper thickness and wasn't over-fried.

Fried Chicken
Didn't have much of the chicken so I couldn't really comment on it; but on a positive note - they did not over-fry their chicken too.

Crab Rasam
I love rasam, and it's a must for me to have it every time I go for banana leaf rice! I read about their crab rasam on one of the blog, and decided that I must try it out. It was served piping hot, and delicious! I finished every drop of it, and my brother absolutely love this too.

Overall, it is a really nice place to enjoy a good meal - minus the parking issues. The lunch crowds were pouring when we were about to leave, so try to be there before lunch to avoid parking and find a place to sit. Our total meal came to RM51 for 3 person.
