Couple of weeks ago, I was invited by OpenRice to a food review at Piggy Tail in Bangsar. As the name suggested, pork lover would have a field day in Piggy Tail as they serve premium Sakura pork in their dishes.

The décor at Piggy Tail is simple with al fresco dining area at the front of the restaurant, which would be a good spot to chill after work.

Pork Corn (RM 16.00)
The night was started off with some crunchy Pork Corn (RM 16.00). The pork tendon were peppered with secret spices and deep-fried till crispy, and served with special BBQ mayo. It was one of our favourite dishes, and very addictive. Perfect to pair with chilled beer!

Wild Mushroom Soup (RM 18.00)
The Wild Mushroom Soup (RM 18.00) was creamy and earthy, and they made the soup using 3 different types of mushroom. I like the tiny chunks of mushrooms in the soup.

Premium Pork Aglio Olio (RM 25.00)
The Premium Pork Agio Olio (RM 25.00) was served with grilled sakura pork neck meat, sprinkled with red chili flakes, garlic, olive oil and sliced bacon. The sakura pork was very tender and the dish had a nice heat to it.

FreshCode: Detox with Fruit Juice!

We all know fruits are good for health, and it's very important to incorporate fruits into our daily diet. But, how to do so with all the busy schedule? Simple answer: FreshCode!

FreshCode applies the most advanced technology - High Pressure Processing (HPP) to produce delicious fruit juices using the freshest seasonal fruits. All juices are cold-pressed using HPP to kill harmful bacteria and preserve maximum nutrition and taste.

With a healthy lifestyle in mind, FreshCode offers Family Pack whereby the customers can purchase juices in bigger pack and kick-start their detox programme. The juices are priced differently; and no, they do not have a fixed rate for their family pack.

I enjoy drinking fresh juices, and I can't want to start my 7-days detox program with FreshCode!

Day 1: Green Miracle
Day 1: Green Miracle (RM 28). Consists of lotus root, celery, broccoli, and pear. It's a very refreshing juice, and tasted even better when serve chilled. However, if you are not a fan of celery, then you might not fancy this juice.

Day 2: High Fiber Pineapple
Day 2: High Fiber Pineapple (RM 22). One of my favourite juices from the family pack. I can taste the natural sweetness of the pineapple in it!

Day 3: Passion Fruit Juice
Day 3: Passion Fruit Juice (RM 36). I love passion fruit but I really don't fancy the sourness of the juice. You can add in some honey to balance out the sourness.

Day 4: Soursop Juice
Day 4: Soursop Juice (RM 28). This is another juice that tasted sour, but it's totally fine if you enjoy acidity in your beverages.

Day 5: Tropicana Juice
Day 5: Tropicana Juice (RM 30). They have added multiple tropical fruits into it, such as pineapple, mango, banana and few others.

Day 6: Mango Juice
Day 6: Mango Juice (RM 20). The mango juice is sweet and you can see from the photo that it's packed with the fruit.

Day 7: Durian
Day 7: Durian (RM 38). I had the choice to choose either durian or lychee for my 7th day detox, and I went for the durian juice because don't find durian juice very common. It tasted like durian (duh~~) and the texture is slightly creamy. Personally, I find it to be a very interesting juice.

They have more juices available and you can check out the above for their family pack or drop by their outlets.

Some of you might felt the pricing is a little bit too high for fruit juice, but for normal consumption, you can consume one pack for up to 2 days. However, if you are planning on a detox programme, then you have to following the formula:

Morning
  1. Drink one glass (300-400ml) of juice without ice.
  2. Have some light breakfast, unless you are too full for food intake.
Afternoon (BEFORE Lunch)
  1. Drink one glass (300-400ml) of juice without ice.
  2. Have a light lunch.
Evening (BEFORE Dinner)
  1. Do some cardio exercise such as jogging for 25 minutes or warm yourself up in sauna for 15 minutes.
  2. Drink one glass (300-400ml) of juice without ice.
  3. Have light dinner.
Stay away from coffee during your detox week, and it's recommended to carry out the program twice a month.

The family pack will come frozen in a box, which is quite heavy! Store the juices in the refrigerator and cut the pack when you are going to consume. If you are not consuming for detox purpose, try to finish each of the pack within 2 days after it has been opened.

[Food] Coco Ichibanya Curry House @ 1 Utama

09:55 becky-wong 0 Comments

How much do you love your curry?  I was recently invited by The Butterfly Project for a food review at CoCo Ichibanya Curry House @ 1 Utama. Eating curry throughout the entire dinner? OH YEAH!! I was excited to try it out.

As the name suggested, it's a Japanese curry house and they have established for more than 30 years. They have more than 1,400 branches in Japan and in countries such as USA, Thailand, Hong Kong, South Korea and many more; and their very first Malaysia outlet is in 1 Utama.

In CoCo Ichibanya, patrons will be able to choose the amount of their rice, spiciness level of the cury, the toppings and if they want additional curry gravy. This place is perfect for everyone! No more worries if some of your family and friends can't take spicy food.

Beef Yakiniku Curry (RM 23)
Since they have few levels of spiciness, we started off with the Beef Yakiniku Curry (RM 23), which has the standard spiciness. The heat wasn't too strong and it's suitable if you have a moderate tolerance for spicy food. The beef was tender and the sweetness of the onions goes well with the aromatic curry.

Pork Cutlet Omelette Curry (RM 26)

Really can't take spicy food but in the mood for some Japanese curry? Go for the Level 1 Pork Cutlet Omelette Curry (RM 26). This is their signature dish and it's also one of their best seller. The pork cutlet was fried to perfection - crunchy batter and moist on the inside. The omelette added extra creaminess to the dish.

[Beauty] Mon Chéri: To Love and Be Loved

23:59 becky-wong 3 Comments

French always gave me the impression of "delicate and elegant", and this is exactly how I felt towards Mon Chéri. Mon Chéri means "to love and be loved" in French, and they believe in being comfortable in your own skin and be confident being an unique individual.

Mon Chéri is passionate in accentuating timeless natural beauty and preserving the skin, and you can see this in their skincare. Thanks to Mon Chéri, I had the chance to try the Lightener and Tinted Sun Crème SPF 50PA+++.
1. Lightener 30ml (RM 160)
Lightener 30ml (RM 160)
The Lightener is a special designed lightweight formula which uses a synergistic combination of peptides, niacinamides, plant extracts and natural lactate. They have carefully chosen the ingredients that go into the Lightener and claims to
  • Tackle darkened skin complexion and irregularities in pigmentation
  • Improve photoaging marks
  • Control hyperpigmentation
Before I go any further, I really like the sweet and feminine packaging of the Lightener. It's so pretty!
Liking the heart-shaped design on the cap too! To pump out the product, just turn the cap anti-clockwise and turn it clockwise to lock the cap.
