My Labour Day...

I know it's a little bit too late to write about my Labour Day's holiday, but still... I'd like to share it with you readers!

It has been ages since I've been to One Utama - mostly due to the crowd and difficulties in getting a parking space. I knew it would be a bad idea to go One Utama during Labour Day (crowd and parking issues...), but I need to pick up my giveaway price - Kiehl's Ultra Light Daily UV Defence SPF 50 PA+++. Thanks to the giveaway from Plusizekitten!

I love the packaging!

Look at their commitments! ^__^

The salesperson was very sweet and gave me a few trial size products to try on. This made me a very happy girl!

We went to Old Siam Kopitiam at New Wing (Lower Ground) to have our lunch, after collecting my stuff. Instead of being one of those posh Thai restaurants in KL/PJ area, Old Siam Kopitiam serves simple yet delicious food. Same goes to their deco - simple wooden deco. The staffs are friendly and attentive too.

Tom Yum with White Rice
I love how they go that extra mile on the platting of their food. The plating of the rice and omelette looks so cute and funny at the same time - does it resembles a human face to you? The tom yum is not bad - a nice balance of spiciness and acidity.

Fish Green Curry Laksa
See what I meant by going that extra mile on their plating? The laksa actually came as shown in the photo.

I totally love how they plate their noodles. Personally, I find it is much more easier to eat. The green curry was flavourful too. You can either pour the curry onto the noodles and mix them altogether; or eat the noodles "one by one"  along with the curry - like how I did. Also, look at the how to yolk wasn't fully cooked? That's totally awesome~~~

After our movie, we had our dinner at Puran b by Plan b in Isetan before heading home.

I kinda like this dish - creamy sauce with hint of cili padi for that extra spiciness. I did not try the soft shell crab and the pasta, so couldn't comment much on them.

This was my dinner! However, compare to Joe's, I wasn't quite fancy with mine. It was spaghetti with Chicken and Kimchi. The word "kimchi" caught my attention, so I went with this. It was nice for the first few bites, but I guess it get too heavy for my taste eventually. The pasta wasn't as al dente as I would preferred.

So, this was my Labour Day in a nutshell. Basically, you can consider an "eating" day - because Joe bought an Aunt Anne's in between meals and movie; and we shared.

The Shangri-la Hotel Trilogy: Lemon Garden Cafe

Finally, we reach the end of our Shangri-la Hotel journey - The Lemon Garden Cafe. I've been to the cafe several times in the past, and they've never let me down before.

Centerpiece at the hotel lobby

WARNING: This is going to be kinda photo bomb post! ^___^

Salad Bar
Let's start with some appetizers shall we!

Alaskan King Crab
OMG!! The crab legs were so so sweet! Although it was a little bit of work to de-shell them, but it was worth every effort!

Crayfish
Did not try this - so, no comment, but they looks super yummy though!

Fresh Oysters
Oysters!! Who doesn't love fresh oysters!!!! Squeeze some fresh lime, and my personal favourite - tabasco - and I'm ready to chow down couple of them!

My assorted cold appetizers
Scallop with Roe
I love scallops, but I love the roe even more! I was jumping up and down (inside my heart...) when I saw this on the cold dishes counter. The scallops were sweet too!

Next, let's move to some warm appetizers! And yes....I actually prefer appetizers in a buffet line...LOL!!!

Crab Cake

Shrimp with Capers
Whoever read my previous posts, would know that I'm totally a big fan of capers!!!!

Smoked Duck Breast with Plum Sauce
A dish that I'll definitely looked for whenever I'm at the cafe - Smoked Duck Breast with Plum Sauce.

Monk Fish with Mango Salsa

Now, some Japanese!

Cold Soba
The soba was so-so. Didn't quite like the texture of the noodles.

Salmon Sashimi, Octopus Sashimi (Top), Fresh Prawn Sushi
I couldn't help but to attack the shrimp when I saw them. I guess I love my food to be raw! LOL!!!

They have other choices as Indian cuisine:

Not a fan of all these spices? Fred not! They have some familiar Chinese cuisine for you to choose from too:

Duck Wrap with Plum Sauce
I did not managed to capture more photos of the buffet line and remaining food - there were too many people that night. So, these are what I was able to capture, and I wish I could have took more photos:

Beef with Brown Sauce
The beef was a bit too dry. Most probably from sitting under the light for too long.

Ice Cream with Chocolate Sauce and Chocolate Chips

P/S: Pardon me for not putting up the costs for this post, as we used our Prestige Membership card and hotel vouchers - so forgot to check out the full amount of the dinner buffet.

The Shangri-la Hotel Trilogy: Part 2 - Lafite

I've heard many good comments on Lafite in Shangri-la Hotel, and they are one of the best fine dining restaurant in Kuala Lumpur dining scene. I decided to splurge a little, and had our anniversary dinner with Joe there.

Complimentary Assorted Bread with Butter
Unlike Joe, I'm never really a big fan of bread, but I like these! It has a nice chewy texture.

Amuse Bouche: Asparagus Soup
Our amuse bouche of that night was Asparagus Soup. The soup was flavourful and creamy! I finished every single drop of it!

Cauliflower Cream Soup with Maine Lobster and Egg Surprise
Joe had the warm appetizer Cauliflower Cream Soup with Maine Lobster and Egg Surprise (RM35). Abso-delicious!!!! Never thought that cauliflower could taste so super flavourful and the way they were thinly shaved, it was so crunchy! One thing that I MUST talk about this dish - the egg! I was looking forward for the egg after seeing the word 'egg surprise' on the menu. The egg white was so fluffy, it was souffle-liked. Cut the egg in the middle, and you'll see the runny yolks flowing out, and this added extra flavours and creaminess to the soup. Joe actually passed a comment, that he will never have eggs anymore, unless he'll find others that are as perfect as this. LOL!

Seabass and Oyster Tartar

The Seabass and Oyster Tartar with Caviar, Tomato Vinaigrette and Beetroot Coulis (RM60) was nice. I especially love how the biscuits (I supposed they are..) on top gave the tartar some texture. It wasn't aggressively seasoned, but every bite was perfect pairing with the caviar.

Lamb Loin
Joe had the Lamb Loin with Herb Crust, Potato Gratin, Baby Squash, Eggplant Caviar and Tapenade Jus (RM120). I must say, the lamb was perfecto!

Look at how perfectly cooked the lamb was! Sorry for the messy plate, but it was really too delicious that we would just have to wipe up every single drop of the gravy on the plate! The meat has all the flavours that  a lamb should have, and all the tenderness that you would like in your meat! The crust has some nuts mixture into it, and hence it added some nutty flavour into the lamb.

Roasted Hokkaido Scallops
Scallops are my favourite, so I had the  Roasted Hokkaido Scallops on Potato Galatte with White Wine Sauce, Mussels and Springs Vegetables (RM130). The scallops were sweet and fresh. I'm never a big fan of mussels as I always find them being overcooked. However, I was converted that night - the mussels were cooked perfetly! In fact, it was my first time having perfect mussels...hmmm.....

I LOVE LOVE LOVE ice cream! I was over the moon when they served us ice cream. Talk about this dessert, I have to share something with all of you. Earlier on while enjoying our main course, a small incident happened, which I shall not mentioned; and it was brought to the staffs' attention. They were really quick to react. I really like how attentive they are to their patrons. *Good Service*!! Ok! Back to food!

A complimentary desserts from the restaurant. The chocolate cake was not too bad - chocolaty and moist yet neither too sweet nor too heavy.

The Shangri-la Hotel Trilogy: Part 1 - Arthur's Bar and Grill

The past week has been a massive visit to Shangri-la Hotel. We are talking about 3 times in a week! Hence, my post - "The Trilogy". My part one - Arthur's Bar and Grill  - to celebrate my brother's birthday.

p/s: sorry that I did not take the exterior and interior of the restaurant.

I love the bottles! So cute!!!!

While waiting for our dinner, complimentary bread was served.

Bread with Sundried Tomatoes and Olive Oil Dip

The bread was served warmed - nice crust on the outside and slightly chewy (in a very good way). One other thing that I love is sundried tomatoes! I so wanted to lick up the entire dip, but apparently I still have some self-control inside me.

On the left, Kilkenny (RM35) for my brother; and on the right, Ice Tea Classic (RM15) for me.

Smoked Salmon with Capers (RM38)
I love salmon and I love capers! I was already starving on the way there, so I've ordered us Smoked Salmon with Capers (RM38) as our appetizer. I did not expect the portion to be kinda big. Back in my mind, I was expecting a few thinly sliced smoked salmon on a plate, but this wasn't the case - it was smoky and each slices was satisfyingly big. I only hope they would have more capers on the dish.

Prime Rib (RM78)

The Prime Rib (RM78) was a candy to my sight! I was actually half-full after the bread and salmon, but looking at the prime rib, it brought back my appetite. It was served on a Yorkshire pudding along with fat fries, grilled tomato (which was also huge), sauteed green beans, Bearnaise sauce and beef jus. The meat was just so good! It was so tender and juicy that I felt it could melt in my mouth. The Yorkshire pudding was crunchy and has the aromatic egg flavours to it. Too bad we both were too stuffed at the end of the dinner to finish off the entire pudding.

Beef Tenderloin 200gm (RM78)

I'm a sucker when it comes to tenderloin. Since, my brother having the prime rib, I decided on the 200gm Beef Tenderloin (RM78) to be done medium rare. You could choose your choice of sauce and 2 side dishes - I've chosen sauteed asparagus and fat fries for my sides; and I chipotle butter sauce. I kinda have a little problem with the plating, but this wasn't a problem at all the moment I sink my teeth onto the meat. Another piece of nicely done and flavourful beef. I could do without the sauteed asparagus, but just the beef and fries itself will do.

Our meal came to a total of RM170.50, after the Prestige Card discount (50% off). At the end of the meal I was extremely stuffed, and could barely moved. It was one of the best steak I've had after Jake's Charbroil Steaks.
