Happ Cafe @ Tropicana Avenue: The Cozy Flower Cafe

If flowers, coffee and cakes are your thing, you would love Happ Cafe at Tropicana Avenue. Brightly lit up with natural sunlight, Happ Cafe is founded by 2 sisters with their friendly crew.

Since it's a flower cafe, you can expect to see natural and artificial flowers blooming beautifully at the side of the entrance. The sight of the flowers somehow brightens up my day when I walked into the cafe.

You'll find some cards, stickers and stamps available at the cafe too.

There was not much hot food when we visited Happ Cafe, so we had their set meal instead.

Carbonara with Turkey Ham and Mushroom (RM 22.90). A plate of creamy carbonara. Nothing too fancy, but it's nice to have when you are seeking for simple comfort food.

Beef Lasagna (RM 21.90). Don't underestimate this piece of lasagna as it can be quite filling too.

Crispy Chicken Burger with Chips (RM 21.90). Crispy indeed, but it could use a bit more salt.

Not a fan of spaghetti and pasta? They have local treat too - Nasi Lemak (RM 16.90).

The set meal comes with drinks.

Hot Lemon Tea.

Iced Black Coffee.

Iced White Coffee.

Hot White Coffee.

Next up, desserts!!

Chamomile Honey Cake (RM 16). This was the cake that attracted us to the cafe. Ain't it beautiful?! The cakes at Happ Cafe were specially made by a friend of the lady boss, and this Camomile Honey Cake totally fits the "flora theme" of the cafe. A combination of chamomile and honey, the cake wasn't too sweet and the whipped cream was surprisingly light.

See the tube of honey sticking out? You can choose to:

1. Squeeze the honey into the cake, or
2. Drizzle it all over the cake, or
3. Squeeze a drop of honey as you go.

The fruity and floral Ispahan Cake (RM 16) will definitely be a crowd pleasure among the ladies. Feature rose, lychee and raspberry, the cake has a nice balance of sweet and acidity.

If you are a fan of green tea, you'd certainly like the Green Tea Torte (RM 16) flavours of this cake.

The Cendol (RM 14) cake was surprisingly not too sweet. Cendol lovers, you might want to give this a try.

Moist and chocolaty Hazelnut Macaroon Torte (RM 16) would certainly be the choice of chocolate lovers.

OK, we decided to order the Caramel Popcorn Blended (RM 15) because we were told it was "Instagrammable". Truth be told, it was indeed Instagrammable, but too sweet for my liking. The drink is nice and creamy, and you would certainly like this if you have a serious sweet-tooth.

After all the desserts and hot food, a glass of fizzy Rose Red Berries (RM 11) was super refreshing to have!

Overall, the hot food were pretty average (it could be due to their kitchen wasn't really ready yet...) but the desserts definitely made our trip to the cafe worthwhile. Would I visit the cafe again? Certainly, especially their desserts.

I really like the cosy and friendly ambiance of Happ Cafe. We had a chat with the pretty lady boss and she informed us that they are in the midst of whipping up more hot food. For any updates and information on Happ Cafe, do follow their WebsiteFacebook and Instagram.

CURE Water Treatment Skin Cream Beauty Review

18:32 becky-wong 0 Comments

It seems like I have been blogging a lot about food lately, so I decided to take a short break from food and talk about a skincare that I've came across last month - Cure.

CURE is a well-known skincare from Japan. If you visit SaSa frequent enough, I'm sure you'll come across CURE best seller - CURE Natural Aqua Gel.

The aqua gel has taken the market by storm, and after the success of this product, CURE has released another new innovative product - CURE Water Treatment Skin Cream.

Let's take a look at both of these products.

CURE Natural Aqua Gel (RM 115). Known as "Legendary Product" or "Monster Product", the Natural Aqua Gel has been the best seller in Asia since 2012. It is so popular that the aqua gel is sells EVERY 12 SECONDS in Japan! Initially I thought it was an emulsion or some kind of moisturizer, but it turns out to be an exfoliator.

Natural Aqua Gel consists of 91% of water and doesn't contain any harmful ingredients. The gel comes is clouldy-clear and has a semi-solidify texture. I pumped some onto my hand and gently massage the gel. It spread on very easily like a watery moisturizer, and I was starting to think where does the exfoliating come in?

After a few seconds of massaging, I started to feel something grainy on my fingers and saw dead skin covering the back of my hand.

My skin felt so much smoother and softer just after one application! I think it looks fairer too, but maybe not that obvious. Unlike many scrubs and exfoliating products, Natural Aqua Gel doesn't leave any redness on the skin after using. It is so gentle on the skin yet effective. If you have sensitive skin, you might want to consider CURE Natural Aqua Gel.

Product: CURE Natural Aqua Gel
Price: RM 115

CURE very new innovative product - Water Treatment Skin Cream (RM 169). The skin cream has 2 main purposes - as a toner and emulsion.

The cream comes in the form of lightweight moisturizer, and I like the texture feels like lotion rather than a cream. Frankly, I was expecting a thick consistency when I saw the word "cream" on the packaging, but it turns out to be really light.

Due to its high skin absorption rate, it doesn't leave any sticky residue after applying. The fun part is, after massaging the cream onto the skin, water started to emerge! Did some research on the product, and it seems the cream consists of 75% of hydrogen water that helps in speeding up the skin's regeneration process, reduces fine lines and wrinkles.

After trying out the cream ONCE, my skin felt softer and smoother once it absorbed the cream. With it being both toner and emulsion, the CURE Water Treatment Skin Cream made my beauty regime so much more convenient! Plus, I can bring one less bottle of skincare when I go travelling. ^_^

Product: CURE Water Treatment Skin Cream
Price: RM 169

If you are interested and want to try out the products from CURE, you can now get them at selected SaSa outlets in Malaysia.

Leaf Lohas @ C180 Cheras: A Heaven for Tea Lovers

23:10 becky-wong 0 Comments

I remember when I was young watching my grandfather drinking tea every day. Instead of coffee, he was a tea person and my grandfather was the one who taught me how to appreciate tea. Ever since then, I've developed a love for tea and find the process of making and drinking tea is very therapeutic.

For the past few weeks my friend has been mentioning a place named "Leaf Lohas" at C180 Cheras, and finally we had the chance to pay Leaf Lohas a visit.

Stepping into Leaf Lohas, I immediately felt peace and calm. The place is truly zen! After talking to the owner, we came to know that he is an interior designer himself and the beautiful homey-feeling Leaf Lohas is his creation. Also, the name "Leaf Lohas" came from his surname - Yap, which also refers to "leaf" in Mandarin. As for the word "Lohas", is a lifestyle that they want to promote.

The interior of Leaf Lohas is spacious and I was very surprised to see the wide selections of tea they are offering.

The owners are not only experience but also super friendly in sharing their knowledge in tea.

We started off with a pot of hot White Tea with 2 Desserts白茶套餐 (RM 25). The tea was light with very subtle fragrance. Unlike black tea, the flavour of white tea only gets better with every sip. It is so perfect to enjoy as an afternoon tea with desserts.

I don't enjoy jelly but I love konnyaku, as it has firmer texture. The konnyaku at Leaf Lohas is a must have - firm, springy texture and and packed with flavours made from natural ingredients. They would make their konnyaku based on the ingredients they have on that day, and we had the ones made from chrysanthemum and red dates with wolfberry - 菊花蒟蒻冻+红枣枸杞蒟蒻冻.

Made by the lady boss herself, the cheesecake芝士蛋糕 was rich and creamy. It's a total delish!

Truth be told, I really wasn't looking forward to this dessert as I really absolutely do not like red beans. Surprisingly, I enjoyed this Azuki Bean Yokan日本红豆水洋羹 from Leaf Lohas. I could taste the actual red bean flavours, it wasn't too sweet and with a perfect texture.

I'm sure you've had cold brew coffee before, but have you ever tried cold brew tea? We had their Cold Brew Set (RM 18) that comes with a dessert. We were recommended to try the Lychee Oolong Cold Brew冷泡荔枝乌龙茶. The cold tea was so refreshing, and I love the hint of lychee fragrance. This is another highly-recommended tea to have at Leaf Lohas!

If you are looking for a peaceful and quiet place to spend your day, or tired of the typical cafe hopping, Leaf Lohas is definitely an excellent choice!

Kiku-Masamune Skin Care Review

23:43 becky-wong 0 Comments

Everybody knows Sake is a Japanese rice wine made by fermenting rice. But, have you ever consider applying sake onto your face? Well, it's no secret that rice has certain benefits to the skin. So... why not incorporate sake into skincare then?!

Kiku-Masamune is a famous sake brewer in Japan that was founded in 1659. After many many years of producing sake for consumption, they have released their very own range of skincare that are mainly produced using dry sake.

I've heard and used multiple skincare that contains alcohol, but Sake?! It was definitely a first for me!

Kiku-Masamune Skin Care Cleansing (RM 42.90) - a moisturizing makeup cleanser gel.

The cleansing gel contains of fermented rice extract, amino acids, placenta extract and arbutin to protect the skin's moisture. The gel spreads on easily onto the face, but unlike many gel cleansers, this doesn't foam up.

Generally, the cleansing gel works perfectly fine in removing makeup, but it doesn't work on my waterproof mascara. So, if you are using super waterproof mascara or eyeliner, I would recommend using a proper eye makeup remover instead of this.

Kiku-Masamune Skin Care Facial Wash (RM 39.90). After removing the makeup, it's time to double cleanse the face! The facial wash has a white and creamy texture, but it lather nicely into fine and, dense foam. I like the subtle fragrance of sake on my face after cleansing, but my skin felt tight and a little bit dry after using it.

Apart from facial wash, it can be used as a full-body wash too! Since it doesn't suit my skin that much, I'll be using this as body wash instead. After all, I do enjoy the lingering sake fragrance on my skin.

Kiku-Masamune Skin Care Lotion (RM 42.90). In the age of before cosmetics, diluted sake was used to treat skin conditions, and the leftover sake was used by geisha. OK, now I know why the Japanese ladies have such amazingly good skin!!!!

Before I go any further, I must say I really like the size of the lotion. It's.... really generous! Secondly, the transparent bottle allows me to observe how much lotion I have left.

Instead of using hands, I pumped the lotion onto a cotton pad and gently apply onto my face. The texture is very watery and I like how easily it gets absorbed into my skin. The best of all, it doesn't leave any sticky residue after drying. Instead, my skin felt moisturized and hydrated after applying the lotion,

If you have any dry patches on the skin, you can pump a bit extra on the cotton pad and apply it as a facial mask on the dry spot to relieve the dryness of the skin.

If you have dry skin or looking for something stronger, go for the Kiku-Masamune Skin Care Lotion - High Moist (RM 49.90). Many of their customers have been asking for a lotion that has higher level of moisture, so they have introduced this high moist lotion with increased quantity of moisturizing ingredients and added ceramide.

Last but not least, moisturize your skin with Kiku-Masamune Skin Care Emulsion (RM 49.90). The emulsion contains two times more amino acids than toning water. It is not only outstanding in terms of oil content, but also in terms of moisturizing power.

At first pump, I thought the emulsion would be very thick and heavy. It turns out to be pretty light and non-greasy. However, it took a bit of time for the emulsion to be absorbed into my skin. The emulsion is not only suitable for the face, but it can be comfortably used at areas such as elbows and heels too.

Personally, I felt there are hits and misses on the skin care range of Kiku-Masamune. My personal favourite would have to be the lotion. If your skin is really dry, you may want to consider the lotion in high moist version.

Interested to try out this sake skin care from Japan? Kiku-Masamune is now available at selected AEON Wellness and SaSa stores. Do check them out as their prices are really reasonable!
