HK KItchen @ Tropicana City Mall

I'm not too sure how new is this restaurant in Tropicana City Mall, at least for me, it is quite new - HK Kitchen. It is located at LG in the mall (where Churros used to be), opposite GNC and Eat 'N Run. Joe and I decided to give it a try.

The concept of the restaurant is simple Hong Kong cuisine. Though they have varieties from steamed rice to fusion macaroni, but they do not have an extesive menu.

Joe ordered their steamed rice and I had their macaroni:

Steamed Rice with Pork Ribs in Spicy Fragrant Garlic Sauce (RM 12)

One thing I must say, the actual steamed rice that came was a TOTAL different from their menu. We actually had to double check with the waiter if they have taken the wrong or served it to the wrong table. The portion is kinda small, especially if you are a guy. The rice were a tad too dry and I really hope they were abit more generous with the sauce on top of it. The sauce was not too bad - savory and a slight heat from the chilli, but I find the pork were a little tough for my liking. Overall, I would not say it's a bad dish, and I'd most probably re-visit the restaurant if I want something simple and fast.

Macaroni with Braised Minced Pork in Fresh Tomato Soup (RM 9.50)

Compared to the steamed rice, the portion of the macaroni was actually kinda big. Again, if you are a guy, you might find the portion just nice. I ordered this in a heart beat, because I fell in love with the Macaroni in beef broth from Fatspoon. I was looking forward to have that flavourful soup. Having this expectation, I was a let down a little - the soup was a but one note and it seems like is missing some flavours in it. However, the macaroni were well cooked and I love the eggs in the soup.

Iced Milk Tea (RM3.50) to go with our meal! Our total bill came to RM29.95. The pricing was average and there are some hits and missed with the food, but for a simple and quick meal, I wouldn't mind re-visiting the restaurant again.

Movie Review: The Internship

21:13 becky-wong 0 Comments

I've been a huge movie fan for centuries, but never tried to do a movie review. So, I'm gonna kick-off my very first movie review on "The Internship". Thanks to +Nuffnang Stickman, I received a pair of premiere invitation to watch the movie at TGV 1 Utama.

"The Internship" is the 2nd movie that Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson starring together, after "Wedding Crashers. So, before I go further talking about the movie, I'll just give you folks a summary of what the entire movie is about:

"2 watch middle-age salesman seek employment after being laid off when their employer went out of business. Both of them, neither being IT savvy nor other working skills, applied an internship at Google and got accepted for the internship. Both of them will have to compete with a bunch of young and smart interns who have the in-depth knowledge of IT, just to lay themselves a job in Google."

Despite the negative comments I've read on-line, I'd still say this is a funny and worth-watching movie. It is a very light comedy and I can really relate to the movie. Same as the characters played by Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, I do have people around me who are not so IT savvy and they really tend to say some silly things sometimes - just like the movie.

Apart from the comedy, I really love the messages that they want to convey through the movie - "Never give up, Live your dream, and you'll never know what surprises you'll get along the way". At the very least, this movie motivates me in this way.

On a side note, Google office is REALLY REALLY REALLY REALL SUPERB!!!!!! OMG!!!!!! You could see quite a few areas of the Google office in the movie, and I must say, no wonder Google has been rated one of THE BEST company to work for!

So, if you are free over the weekends, why not drop-by the cinemas and give this movie a chance.

MooGoo Love: Milky Wash

16:33 becky-wong 0 Comments

In one my of previous beauty post, I've mentioned that I've hopelessly fallen in love with MooGoo products. I'm going to talk about another product of this amazing brand in this post - Milky Wash. I've always shy away from using milk cleanser because they tend to cause further breakouts to my skin. Hence, I've been using gel cleansers from REN. Although it's really a good cleanser but I'm still wanting a milk cleanser for double cleanse purpose. After seeing the result of other MooGoo products, I've decided to give their milk cleanser a try.

Mooooooooooooooooo~~~~~~~

It is kinda watery for a milk cleanser. Personally, I would say 2-3 pumps of roughly a 20cents-coin-size would be sufficient to cleanse the whole face. Compare to some cleansers out in the market, it doesn't have a very fragrance smell (I'm so sooooooo glad it doesn't have...I totally hated it!), but a very mild milky scent (personally I think so... ^_^ ). 2 things made me a loyal fan to this milk cleanser:

1) My face looks so much clearer and fairier everytime after I cleanse my face, and I love how my skin brightens up after that.

2) It doesn't irritates my skin. I have tried milk cleanser of other brands, but at one point, it will be too rich for my skin and I'll start to have break-outs.

On top of all these, it is really a very economic cleanser - 500ml for RM59 - and this could last you for months. I have been using mine twice a day since 4-5 months ago, and I would not need to purchase another bottle for another 1-2 months, I suppose. To add on, you could also use this as a milk body wash too! Killing 2 birds in 1 stone - face and body! But I guess, the bottle would not have lasted this long if I've been using it as a body wash as well. =p
