[Movie] Alexander and The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

"Alexander and The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day".

Wow, This is one long movie title!

Thanks to ChurpChurp, I got invited to the premiere screening of this Disney production.

Movie Info:
"11 year-old Alexander experiences the most terrible and horrible days of his young life. His day begins with one disaster after another. However, when he tried to tell his family of his misadventures of his disastrous day, he finds little sympathy from them and begins to think bad things only happened to him but not his perfect family. Soon, he realised that he's not alone in this - when his family all find themselves going through their own disastrous day."

[Movie Review]: The Equalizer

There are lots of really talented actors in the film industry, and Denzel Washington definitely is one of them. After films such as "American Gangster" and "Book of Eli", he's back with another action movie - The Equalizer.

"McCall (Denzel Washington), a former black ops commando who has been living his quiet life in Boston, was forced to come out of his "retirement" to rescue a young girl, Teri (Chloe Grace Moretz) from the Russian gangsters."

[Movie]: The 100 Foot Journey

"Food is memory..."

We might be culturally different, but food allows us to understand each other cultures a little more, and sometimes, it can tell a whole story. This is how I feel about The 100 Foot Journey.

Synopsis

"Hassan Kadam is a genius in culinary. After their house was burnt down due to election dispute, the family decided to move to Europe. After leaving London, where they've been staying for a bit of time, they found themselves in a beautiful village of St. Antonin-Noble-Val in South of France. Mesmerized by it's picturesque and elegant, the father (Papa) decided to settle down and open an Indian Restaurant, Maison Mumbai - exactly 100 foot across a Michelin starred classical French Restaurant. The restaurant owner (Mdm. Mallory) gets wind of it, and watch how she and their father 'battle' out with each other; while Hassan and Mdm. Mallory sous chef, Margurite, enjoys a flirtatious relationship. Despite the "war" between her and Papa, Mdm. Mallory recognizes Hassan's talent and takes him under her wing"

[Review] Lucy

Once again, I was lucky to get the invites to Nuffnang's movie premiere screening of "Lucy".

Having a strong line-up of Scarlett Johansson, Morgan Freeman, Choi Min-Sik and Amr Waked; the story was about a young American woman was tricked into working as a drug mule to deliver a highly valuable drug, but unfortunately the drug bag broke and a large quantity of drug went into her system. Since then, she began to acquire powerful and enhanced physical and mental capabilities.

[Review] Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Thanks to +ChurpChurp, I managed to get the premiere tickets to the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

For those who don't know, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is the sequel of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Before I go further, let me give you a short synopsis of the movie:

"A deadly virus has wiped out majority of the mankind a decade ago, and the growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by the surviving human being. They have been living in peace, until both world collided - and both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will survive on the planet earth."

Movie Review: The Internship

I've been a huge movie fan for centuries, but never tried to do a movie review. So, I'm gonna kick-off my very first movie review on "The Internship". Thanks to +Nuffnang Stickman, I received a pair of premiere invitation to watch the movie at TGV 1 Utama.

"The Internship" is the 2nd movie that Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson starring together, after "Wedding Crashers. So, before I go further talking about the movie, I'll just give you folks a summary of what the entire movie is about:

"2 watch middle-age salesman seek employment after being laid off when their employer went out of business. Both of them, neither being IT savvy nor other working skills, applied an internship at Google and got accepted for the internship. Both of them will have to compete with a bunch of young and smart interns who have the in-depth knowledge of IT, just to lay themselves a job in Google."

Despite the negative comments I've read on-line, I'd still say this is a funny and worth-watching movie. It is a very light comedy and I can really relate to the movie. Same as the characters played by Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, I do have people around me who are not so IT savvy and they really tend to say some silly things sometimes - just like the movie.

Apart from the comedy, I really love the messages that they want to convey through the movie - "Never give up, Live your dream, and you'll never know what surprises you'll get along the way". At the very least, this movie motivates me in this way.

On a side note, Google office is REALLY REALLY REALLY REALL SUPERB!!!!!! OMG!!!!!! You could see quite a few areas of the Google office in the movie, and I must say, no wonder Google has been rated one of THE BEST company to work for!

So, if you are free over the weekends, why not drop-by the cinemas and give this movie a chance.
