Hammam Tearoom, Publika Solaris Dutamas

After reading a few blogs on Hammam Tearoom at Publika Solaris Dutamas, I decided to pay the restaurant a visit with my brother. After all, apart from myself, he's the only person who enjoy such heavily-spiced cuisine in the family. The restaurant is located at the very top floor of Publika, 2 floors above MPH. It took us some time to locate the place.

Tangerine Draems (RM 7)
My brother had the Tangerine Dreams (RM 7). The sweet and tangy cold beverage was very refreshing.

Moroccan Mint Tea (RM 12)
I was feeling under the weather that night, so decided to go for something soothing. The Moroccan Mint Tea was totally what I needed - a blend of gunpowder tea, mint, thyme and sage with some honey! I was expecting the tea to be really sweet, but it turned out otherwise - perfect sweetness with a hint of minty taste. I was a happy girl. ^_^

Brochettes Boulfaf (Moroccan Grilled Liver) (RM 14.90)
We enjoyed the grilled liver a lot. They were perfectly grilled, and still moist on the inside. The sweetness of the jam on the side goes very well with the liver. However, I'm not a very big fan of the onions, as they were a little too raw for my taste.

Berber Chicken (RM 33)

The Berber Chicken (RM 33) was really forked-tender. I enjoyed the potatoes and carrots a lot, however, I think it could use a tad more salt. The chili sauce tasted a lot like the ones you would get from ordering chicken rice.

Tagine Kefta Shashouka and Egg (RM 30)
We were looking forward to this dish - beef meatballs with eggs! The eggs were perfectly cooked - runny yolks! Sadly, although the meatballs were deliciously gamey enough for me, I felt they were a bit too dry for my taste. They weren't as succulent as I'd like them to be. A word of advice, try to consume it as soon as possible, as the heat from the tagine will continue to cook the eggs in it. And trust me, you wouldn't want the eggs to be fully cooked.

Flatbread

Having said so, I couldn't stop myself from mopping up all the creamy goodness with my flatbread.

Overall, it was a satisfying dinner. We'd definitely be going back to the restaurant to try out some of their other dishes.

They have 2 branches - Bangsar Village and Publika. Apart from tearoom, they started off with a spa centre. Check out their webpage here, for more information on their spa services.

  4. This is the first time I've heard to hear of gunpowder tea. Curious now about it. I don't really like spicy food, so I would probably ask them to tone down the spice if I eat here.
