Recently, I done a review on SkinSoul's Ultra-Soft Facial Towelettes here and I was very impressive with the results. I've been given a chance to try the SkinSoul SkinShield travelling set and I can't wait to see the results!

The main ingredient in the SkinShield range is Ashitaba, a perennial plant that has thrived for centuries in the rich volcanic soil of Hachi Jo Island in Japan. Ashitaba means "tomorrow's leaf" in Japanese due to the plant's miraculous ability of self-generating when injured.

1. Hydra-Purifying Cleanser

Hydra-Purifying Cleanser (RM 210.94)

The cleanser is packed with skin vitamins and minerals of Ashitaba encapsulated in pure Swiss Glacier Water that gently washes out impurities, excess sebum and pollution while nourishing the skin's softness and suppleness.

Apply the cleanser every morning and evening. I'm quite fond of the cleanser. It lathers easily with a little bit of water, and due to its paraben-free, it doesn't irritate the eyes at all! I felt some slight tightness to my skin after cleansing, but the sensation went off after a short while and I felt very refreshing.

2. Hydrating, Energizing & Pore Refining Lotion

Hydrating, Energizing & Pore Refining Lotion
The lotion is laden with skin calming, moisturizing and purifying benefits sourced from the purest Ashitaba extracts. The lotion claims to:
  • Gently whisk away impurities and oils that clog pores and lead to skin break-outs and blemishes.
  • Restores the skin moisture balance after cleansing routine.
  • Minimize the appearance of pores.
  • Creates a smooth, matte, healthy-looking skin restored to its pH.

Wet a cotton pad with the lotion and smooth over cleansed face and neck. The lotion is suitable for normal and combination skin, and can be used daily both day and night. Unlike some lotion, this lotion neither has any unpleasant scent nor irritates the skin at all. It's very moisturizing, but I felt it to be a little too rich for my skin. Personally, I felt this might be more suitable for normal or dry-combination skin.

3. 12-in-1 Suncare Day Cream SPF50

12-in-1 Suncare Day Cream SPF50
This Ashitaba-enriched 12-in-1 base cream is light-textured, easily absorbed and can be used as both skin care with sun protection and makeup foundation. The day cream claims to:
  • Hydrate and protects the skin.
  • Unifies complexion.
  • Brightens up the skin.
  • Evens out skin tone.
  • Conceals and correct blemishes.
  • Fights with signs of aging.
  • Protects skin from UV rays.
  • Strengthens skin health.
  • Soothes skin irritation.
  • Fends off free radicals.
  • Stimulates skin rejuvenation.
  • Imparts radiant glow to facial

The texture was quite thick but it felt very light on the skin.

I took this photo right after applying the day cream WITHOUT any base or foundation on, except for a little bit of blusher. The day cream does brighten up my skin and helped to concealed some of my acne scars. Somehow I felt my skin looks healthier with a glow after applying the day cream. When first applied, the skin will look very white but it only needs a few minutes to blend into the skin and match your skin tone. This is another of my personal favourite as I find it to be really effective and super convenient.

4. Light & Bright Serum

Light & Bright Serum
To target ageing at its core, this serum has been formulated with smaller molecules of Ashitaba's anti-aging essence that can penetrate into the deepest layer of skin to restore skin elasticity and firmness. It also contains peptides and essential collagen to replenish lost moisture for a supple, fair and firmly lifted skin.

Apply the serum both day and night onto cleansed and toned skin.

To use the serum, push the cap down onto the tip of the bottle.

The sharp end in the cap will create a hole on the top, and voila! You can start using the serum now. The texture of the serum wasn't runny but you only need about a small amount of it to apply onto the face. I've only been using the serum for a week, so I don't really see much effect at the moment.

5. Night Cream

Night Cream
The Ashitaba-enriched night cream is designed to work in synergy the skin's natural regeneration cycle by depositing encapsulated retinol in precise concentration that is time-released for constant skin reconditioning throughout the night.

The night cream claims:
  • Reduce fine lines and wrinkles
  • Refined enlarged pores
  • Correct blemishes
  • Improve damaged skin condition for a noticeably youthful and translucent complexion.

The night cream has a slight watery texture, and you'll only need to dab a small amount of it onto your skin. The texture was light and my skin felt more moisturize after apply it. Despite so, I felt the night cream was a little too rich for my skin. I was using the cream every night and my skin started to have some breakouts. I decided to use it on alternate nights and I find this suits my skin better. If you have sensitive skin, I would recommend using this on alternate nights for a start.

Overall, I felt the products are suitable for most skin type unless your skin is really very sensitive and easily prone to breakouts. The products are very gentle and don't irritates the skin yet able to deliver the results. Since I've only been using the products for a week, I wouldn't expect to see much visible results yet but would continue using them and let me know if you would like me to do a review on the results after a month!
