Ru Di Fook @ Kota Damansara: Creative Desserts for the Dessert Lovers

Some of you might heard of the name Ru Di Fook at Kota Damansara, but some of you might not. Ru Di Fook is a noodle bar that serves noodles in creative way. Earlier this year I paid Ru Di Fook a visit when they first opened, and was quite of their noodles. Over the past few months, they have expanded their menu and are now serving rice dishes, yakitori and a list of interesting & creative desserts.

But first, let us take a look at some of the special dishes that Ru Di Fook has recently introduced, in conjunction with our National Day.

Mee Lemak (RM 21.80). I've eating countless nasi lemak but this is my first time trying Mee Lemak. According to the chef, this dish was inspired nasi lemak. The gravy is really thick and aromatic, and not too spicy. Tired of having nasi lemak? Let's try something new today with the Mee Lemak at Ru Di Fook then!

Gulu Pork Katsu Mee (RM 19.80). Traditionally, sweet and sour pork is used to pair with white rice. The sweet and sour gravy is very appetizing and paired exceptionally well with the deep fried pork cutlet.

Sarsi Lemon Chicken Rice (RM 23.80). The acidity of the lemon nicely balanced out by the sweetness of Sarsi, and the portion is generous enough to fill you up. However, I do find the flavours to be a bit heavy towards the end. Personally, I felt the dish could use a bit of heat or a tad more acid to brighten it up.

Among all 3 of these new dishes at Ru Di Fook, my personal favourite is the Mee Lemak and Gulu Pork Katsu Mee. Apart from these dishes, they have many more noodles dishes that are both equally delicious and interesting. If you are a fan of noodles, you might want to drop by Ru Di Fook and give their dishes a try.

Next, is time for desserts! Same as their main dishes, Ru Di Fook is constantly coming up new ideas and creating new interesting desserts.

RDF Papaya Peach Gum Muesli (RM 14.80). Few of the reasons why people shy away from desserts are either they are too sweet or too fattening.

However, with this bowl full of papaya, white fungus, goji berries and peach gum, you can eat all you want. Also, do you know that peach gum is said to be rich in collagen for beautiful skin? Ladies, you definitely DO NOT want to miss out this dessert!! The RDF Papaya Peach Gum Muesli is only available for a limited time only.

Lucky 909 (RM 12.80). If papaya and milk is not your cup of tea, here goes another one - chilled herbal jelly with osmanthus jelly and goji berries. Unlike many desserts, the Lucky 909 has a mild bitterness to it, but you can always add some sugar syrup served at the side to sweeten it up to your liking.

Tim Mak Mak (RM 12.80). If you have been following my blog, you would have noticed I've mentioned this dessert in my previous post. This time round, Ru Di Fook made some slight changes and I like to call this Tim Mak Mak version 2! The soy custard is still as soft and creamy and like that the barley still has some bite to it. Instead of using quail egg, they now replaced it with chicken egg, as some of their customers are concern over the cholesterol level in quail eggs.

Horlick Banana Crumble (RM 20.80). Horlick is one of the many childhood memories, and I remember I used to love eating Horlick candies when I was younger. Compared to the other 2 desserts, this is on the sweeter side but it is a nice dessert to have and to share.

Milo Pie (RM 20.80). When I was younger I loved to make myself a cup of milo with a thick layer of milo powder floating on the top of my drink. This Milo Pie reminds a lot of that drink I used to make.

RED (RM 16.80). A very unique twist of the traditional affogato. Instead of the Vanilla ice cream, Ru Di Fook uses Hawthorn ice cream, which I thought it is not as sweet as your usual ice cream. Curious to know how it actually tastes like? Go try it out at Ru Di Fook!

From mains to desserts, Ru Di Fook has never once disappoint me with their creativity and the quality of the food. No matter if you are looking to have a nice mains or satisfy your dessert cravings, Ru Di Fook is a nice place to be. Oh, their coffee is highly recommended too!

Pot Temptation Seafood @ Cheras: Enjoy the Fun of Eating Steamboat with Fresh Seafood

Do you enjoy eating steamboat? I like eating steamboat a lot. The fun with steamboat is you get to cook all your favourite ingredients in a pot of delicious soup! My go-to steamboat is usually Sichuan spicy hot pot (well.... I do love spicy good), and recently I paid a visit to a new steamboat restaurant at Cheras - Pot Temptation Seafood.

Pot Temptation Seafood is located in Cheras and if you love having seafood for steamboat, then you definitely wouldn't want to miss out this steamboat restaurant.

The interior is what you would have expected from a Chinese steamboat restaurant - simple round tables with plastic chairs.

Korean Kimchi Soup (RM 32/pot). Nothing beats that hint of spiciness in a steamboat, especially when it's kimchi soup - not too spicy yet very appetizing. At first glance, many might be shocked with the price, but the pot itself comes with generous amount of pork slices and enoki mushrooms. The Korean Kimchi Soup is my personal favourite.

Enoki Winter Melon Soup (RM 19.80/pot). After constant boiling in the pot, you could taste the sweetness of the winter melon and Chinese cabbage. To make this pot even better, it is packed with enoki mushrooms!! If you prefer something lighter and non-spicy, this Enoki Winter Melon Soup is the one to go to.

Salt & Pepper Squid (RM 18). While waiting for the pot to boil, a plate of toothsome fried squid seems to be a good idea.

Pot Temptation Seafood has recently introduced 2 new steamboat set, and we tried the Set B (RM 52.80) for 2 pax. There are quite a variety of ingredients in the set.

The set comes with: Sliced Iberico Belly, Feng Cheng Dumplings, Sea Prawns,, Hanging Tablets Pork Ball, Egg, HK Beancurd Skin Roll, Ee Fu Noodle, Beancurd, Homemade Wanton, Seasonal Vegetables, Scallops, and Blackhead Fish.

HK Beancurd Skin Roll. Thin and crunchy, the beancurd skin roll is really addictive to have.

In conjunction to their new opening, Pot Temptation Steamboat is currently having a special promo. With every Steamboat Set A or B ordered, you get to enjoy a whole Boston Lobster at RM 70 ONLY!!! This is really a super deal, don't you agree?

Homemade Pork Meatballs (RM 8). Whenever having steamboat, meatballs are one of the must haves, especially if they are homemade meatballs like the ones at Pot Temptation Seafood.

Homemade Cuttlefish Ball (RM 11.80). Cuttlefish balls are my favourite, apart from pork meatballs. These springy babies are simply delicious.

Homemade Shrimp Ball (RM 14.80). Another plate of springy meatballs that are too good to miss.

Sliced Giant Grouper. Another business of Pot Temptation Seafood is dealing with seafood, so you can be sure the seafood options at the restaurant are really fresh.

Mushroom. Mushrooms are must haves when it comes to steamboat. I love the additional earthy flavours they gave to the soup.

Vegetables and greens are good add-ons to all the meat and seafood choices.

Steamed Jade Perch. On top of their Boston Lobster promo, you get to enjoy a plate of freshly steamed fish for FREE when you dine in with 2 other friends!

Bottled Herbal Drinks. These homemade herbal drinks are perfect to have after a meal of hot steamboat.

Overall, I'd must say the ingredients at Pot Temptation Seafood are really fresh and they have invested a lot of effort in making sure the quality of their ingredients. Furthermore, they have quite a few interesting steamboats soup too, for example Hot Drunkin Clams Soup, Pork Bone with Tomato Soup, Coriander Preserved Egg Soup and many more. Next to the restaurant is where they display their live seafood. You can either choose your favourite seafood from there to add into your steamboat, or buy it and prepare delicious meals at home.

Althea Petal Velvet Powder Review: Your Perfect Setting Powder

If you are a big fan of anything Korean especially Korean beauty products, I'm very sure you've heard of Althea. Apart from them celebrating their 2nd birthday recently in July, Althea has also released their first own product range - Althea Petal Velvet Powder!

Althea's debut product - a translucent powder that sets makeup and leaves a silky finish to the touch. Infused with oil from Althea seeds, the powder keeps sebum production at bay under control without drying out the skin for a radiant, fresh look, all while giving out a gentle scent.

Althea's Petal Velvet Powder is a cruelty-free product and they uses natural ingredients. The powder is made with micro-fine particles that minimize the appearance of pores and fine lines. The powder provides sun protection, anti-aging and is also hydrating to the skin.

The powder comes with a seal.

Just like any loose powder, it comes with a puff. I couldn't stop touching the puff the moment I held it. The puff is so soft and fluffy!!

The powder is white in colour but it gives a translucent look after applying. If you noticed, the holes are slightly big so it is very easy for the puff to hold too much powder. Personally, I'll be very gentle when shaking to discharge the powder. Alternatively, you can use a brush to apply the powder onto the face.

I was surprise how lightweight and fine the powder is, and I like the floral fragrance the moment I apply the power onto my face.

I tried using the powder on its own, and can see that my face looks smoother after applying the powder.

Also, I tried using the powder to set my makeup. I realized my makeup stays longer and my face is not as oily.

If you are looking for a great loose powder, I would highly recommend Althea Petal Velvet Powder for sure! Not only it's a great makeup, but the price is super cheap too! Oh, how much you ask? The Althea Petal Velvet Powder is retailed at RM 16 ONLY! Wow~~ this is really cheap! Don't you think so?

Product: Althea Velvet Powder
Price: RM 16

Malgudi Restaurant @ Seksyen 16, PJ: Classic Indian Cuisine

If you drive around Seksyen 16 often enough, it is very hard to not see name "Malgudi" around the area. Malgudi is a fictional town created by an Indian author R.K. Narayan. The story is so well-known that many started to believe Malgudi actually existed. Hmm.... maybe I should make a trip to India and explore the country for a bit.

Sadly, I'm still lacking of travelling fund to do that. However, I get to have a taste of India when I visited Malgudi Restaurant at Seksyen 16 last week.

Walking into Malgudi, I can't help but to notice the paintings and artwork hanging on the wall. The interior is like what you would expect from an Indian restaurant - colourful and vibrant.

More sittings are available on the 1st floor, and if you are going in a big group, the long tables are just perfect.

Seval Combo (RM 16). Vegetarian deep fried onions, bitter gourd and cauliflower. The deep fried fritters are really crunchy and I could still taste the sweetness and natural flavours of the vegetables.

It tasted so good that I even ate the bitter gourd (I HATE bitter gourd!).

Nasi Lemak Briyani (RM 19.50). Yes, you read it right. It is called Nasi Lemak Briyani, as Malgudi has brilliantly combined both nasi lemak and briyani into 1 delicious plate of food! Served with your usual sides of a nasi lemak, they have incorporated briyani flavours into the rice as well as the fried chicken.

I love this so much especially the sambal. Grew up in Johor, I'm very used to sambal that are on the sweeter side. The sambal at Malgudi has a hint of sweetness but as it lingers in the mouth, the spiciness starts to kick in. Go easy on the sambal, especially if you have low tolerance in spicy food. Nevertheless, this is a dish MUST ORDER at Malgudi!

Oh ya, the Nasi Lemak Briyani will only be served at Malgudi for a limited time only from 31/8/2017 till 16/9/2017. So, don't miss out the chance to try this brilliant dish before it runs out!

Kulfi (RM 7.50). What better way to cool down after having a deliciously spicy food with a plate of frozen dairy dessert? Kulfi is a popular frozen dairy dessert from the Indian subcontinent flavoured with saffron, nuts served with cow's milk. I like the creamy texture but I find it is a tad too sweet especially after having a spoonful of the ice cream.

Fresh Lime Juice (RM 5). Something sweet and acidic to wash down all the delicious food. It is perfect relieved for the palate from all the rich flavours of the dishes too.

Overall, the food I had at Malgudi were really great, especially the Nasi Lemak Briyani. During the time we were dining at the restaurant, we had the chance to speak to the lady boss. Malgudi aims to serve delicious Indian cuisine to their customers, hence everything on the menu are made from scratch at the restaurant. Compared to some Indian restaurant, the pricing at Malgudi might be a bit higher, but with the efforts and ingredients used, I would say Malgudi is a place worth checking out, especially if you are an Indian food lover like me!
