Kopenhagen Coffee @ Kiara Vista: A Piece of Scandinavia in Mont Kiara

What comes to your mind when you see the word "Scandinavia"? For me, it is the scenic view of greens and rocky mountains, breathe-taking aurora borealis, fresh and pure Nordic air,as well as the friendly Scandinavian people.

But, do you know that Scandinavians are one of the top consumers when it comes to coffee? Coffee plays an important role in their lives, it is where they connect and catch up with family and friends. If you've never been to any Scandinavian countries or missing the cosy cafes, you can now enjoy a slice of Scandinavia at Kopenhagen Coffee in Mont Kiara.

Kopenhagen is a cafe at Mont Kiara that inspired by the cafes in Denmark, but was spelled with a "K" instead "C". The owner, Peter who is also Danish himself, wanted to introduce the public to the cafes in Denmark, not just coffee but also the food.

Walking into Kopenhagen, we were greeted by a warm welcome from the barista behind the wide counter. If you are keen, you can even grab a sit by the counter and watch the barista working their magic at the espresso machine.
Took this shoot in the late afternoon. I just love the soft lighting from the evening sun.

A cosy sofa corner at Kopenhagen behind the counter. One of the perfect spot to take photos!

Greek Yogurt with Granola and Blueberries (RM 12). I'm hardly a fan of yogurt, as I find they are either too sweet or too sour. However, I kinda like this Greek yogurt, It's creamy and crunchy and I can't say no to blueberries! Honey is served at the side, for those who want to add a little bit of sweetness to the yogurt.

Scrambled Eggs with Fresh Tomatoes, Spring Onions and Sourdough Bread (RM 14). A very simple dish but the fluffy scrambled eggs and chewy sourdough with crisp crush was too hard to resist. Well... I guess I'm a sucker for sourdough.

Bagel with Tuna Mousse (RM 15). Bagel!!!!!! Another favourite bread of mine. The bagel at Kopenhagen was PERFECT! If you have yet to find perfect bagels in Klang Valley, you'll get it here! It's firm yet chewy; the tuna mousse was surprisingly good too. I especially like how they added gherkins to add that little bit of acid to the dish.

Scone with Raisin (RM 6). The scone was buttery and crumbly, probably the best I've ever had ever since Bon Bon's Cafe at Atria ceased operation. Ohh~~~ how am I missing this now. Butter will be served with the scone, but personally I did not feel the need to slap on more butter.

Danish Dream Cake (RM 7). Dream cake is one of the traditional Danish cake. Soft and moist butter cake encrusted with coconut and brown sugar topping. After taking a bite of this delightful cake, I can totally see why it's called the "Dream Cake".

Flat White (RM 11). Smooth coffee and full bodied, love it! Oh, don't you think the tableware is just too pretty????!! Too bad I can't get these in Malaysia as they were specially imported all the way from Denmark and it cost a BOMB!

Piccolo (RM 10). Compared to flat white, the piccolo tasted stronger but as smooth. It might be smaller in size, but it definitely work as a much needed wake-me-up too.

Iced Latte (RM 11).

Instead of the usual big breakfast and toast, you'll find dishes and bread that are "uniquely Denmark". Also, to ensure the quality and keeping the food as similar to Denmark as possible, Kopenhagen Coffee baked their own bread and the cakes were made by a home-baker.

They are still in the midst of adjusting their food menu, so you can definitely expect more Danish-type of food to be served at Kopenhagen Coffee. I can't wait to pay another visit to the cafe next month!

The downside of the area is the super-duper limited parking space. If you have trouble finding parking at Kiara Vista, you can park at the Global Doctors Hospital building down the road.
