The word "bonfire" always gives me the warmth and cosy feeling, and reminded me of my family BBQ. Every year end, we will gather all the family members and friends, and enjoy a night full of fresh food, drinks and laughter.

The warm and cosy feeling when you get over gatherings is the concept behind Bonfire Restaurant & Bar - an Australian-theme restaurant. Bonfire is a family-run restaurant that offers a list of grilled food. Walking into the restaurant, we were greeted by the piles of wood at the entrance and I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into some smoky-goodness! Bonfire chose to smoke/grill their dishes with wood from rubber trees because it gives the same smoky flavours to the dishes yet without overpowering them.

At the other side of the restaurant stands the reincarnation of Damansara Uptown's Lou Shang Bar - Bonvivant, headed by Head Bartender Demi and Chris. We were told they have been mixing some very interesting cocktails behind the bar. Can't wait!!

The spacious restaurant is lit up with yellow lighting, with a beautiful mural done by a local artist.

Some homemade bread while waiting for our dishes to be served. The bread was soft and I like the slight sweetness of the dried fruits in the butter.

For starter, we had the Smoked Lamb Tenderloin (RM 25). Tender lamb, crunchy greens tossed in tangy Calamansi dressing. The salad was fresh, bright and has the nice balance of texture.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE seafood, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE this Seafood Bouillabaise (RM 26). The soup was rich and packed with umami seafood flavours. It was a symphony for my taste buds!

The Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab Pasta (RM 28) is a MUST have for soft shell crab lovers. Crunchy yet not greasy, this pasta dish was a total delish!

Here comes the long awaited Big Bonfire Platter - Choice of 3 meats (RM 165). The platter can be shared among 3-4 pax, and you can choose to have steak, fish, chicken or lamb.

Wagyu Skirt Steak (RM 80) served with Piquant sauce. The steak was super juicy and moist.

A simple Rack of Lamb (RM 75) with rock salt served comes with mint and pea puree. It's so satisfying to enjoy tender meat with bones on.

Whole Red Snapper (RM 60). The fish was delicately seasoned and cooked perfectly in the wood fire oven, served with sweet basil & coconut beurre blanc.

The meats were so flavourful on its own, that we did not even need to pair them with the sauces.

Next.... the cocktail department!

Something very unique in the making...

Tadaaa~~~~ Demi Cinta Laksa (RM 45). Translate into English, it means "For the Love of Laksa". At first sip, the cocktail was slightly acidic but it was quickly replaced by a hint of sweetness, and ended with a very mild spicy after taste. All of the flavours were perfectly-balanced.

"Noodles" were added into the cocktail. The jelly-like "noodles" were springy and it quite addictive, I would say.

Another creation of their bartenders - Heart of Tiffin (RM 32). Inspired by kuih seri muka, the cocktail was sweet with a hint of pandan flavours. If you enjoy liquid dessert, this might be your choice.

The Big Bonfire (RM 26). When it comes to bonfire, roasted marshmallow is a must have! A bowl of lightly torched marshmallow meringue and chocolate anglaise surrounded by chocolate shortbread & gingerbread, chocolate soil and fresh berries. It has a nice modern twist on the traditional S'mores.

Caramelised Milk Pannacotta (RM 19). I've had pannacotta many times, but they are mostly a disappointment. On the other hand, the pannacotta at Bonfire was surprisingly good. The pannacotta was silky smooth and just firm with a gentle wobble, served with Nutella cigar and fresh berries to balance off the sweetness of the dessert.

No matter you are dining with your better half or planning for a group gathering, the friendly Bonfire Restaurant & Bar would definitely be a good option. Furthermore, who doesn't enjoy a table of delicacies cooked over fire?
