Sushi King Celebrated 21 Years in Malaysia

Sushi King, Malaysia's largest Japanese chain restaurant has celebrated its 21 years in Malaysia, by giving back to Malaysians in a uniquely Malaysian event. I was honoured to be witness this meaningful event.

They ceremony was opened with a performance by the Malaysian Drum Symphony. A very nice collaboration of Malaysia's kompang and Japanese taiko drums.

The celebration also featured the creation of a 70-foot maki rolled by a team of Sushi King chefs, lef by Head Chef Takeshi Torita. Joining the fun of rolling was Tan Sri Konishi, Akihiko Hojioka, President & COO of Texchem Restaurant System, local personalities Izzue Islam, Kamal Adli, Sazzy Falak, Cha Cha Maembong, Elizabeth Tan and Ammar Titan, Dato' Faridah.

Sushi King made a special contribution of RM 21,000 to children's home Pertubuhan Rahoma Darul Fakir Malaysia to help support the 55 orphans residing in the home. The donation was handed over by Tan Sri Dato' Seri Fumihiko Konishi (Founder and Executive Chairman of Texchem Resources Berhad, which owns Sushi King) to Dato' Faridah Omar Shah (Founder and Chairman of Pertubuhan Rahoma Darul Fakir Malaysia).

For over 21 years, Sushi King has successfully combined both the Japanese and Malaysian culture into their food, which turned out to be widely accepted by the locals. It is no surprise Sushi King is one of the favourite restaurant for many, and they are reaching 105 outlets with a presence in almost every state in Malaysia.

Sushi King always used only ingredients from Halal-certified suppliers as their brand focuses on providing fresh, good, healthy, safe and high quality food and service to Malaysians. Currently, 90% of their outlets have been certified Halal and some new outlets are in process of certification.

To bring Japanese food to a wider audience, Sushi King will be expanding in Bentong, Temerloh and Raub. Look out for their branches!
