NY Steak Shack @ Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall

Growing up as a movie buff, I'm always fascinated by those American-style diners, especially the energetic vibes in the diners and those stacks of pancakes with bacon. This also kind of set the way I see how a diner or any eateries should be - warm, friendly and generous in their food portion. As someone who loves to travel, I've always wanted to travel around America and experience the "diner experience" myself, but sadly my travelling fund is still work in progress.

However... I've recently found a place that gave me a peak into this classic American heritage!

Home to hundreds of different cultures, New York City is a cultural melting pot knows for its variety of ethnic cuisines, great restaurants, and the ability to find any kind of food at any hour of the day. Inspired by New York City, NY Steak Shack want to satisfy your cravings for just about anything you have in mind, ranging from steaks to burgers and shakes, and pasta made to order.

The restaurant has a retro vibe with theme colours of red and black. The somewhat rustic atmosphere would definitely give you a taste of the American heritage.

NY Steak Shack totally understands the joy of bonding over food, and with the festive season just around the corner, they have prepared some special dishes to cater to everyone's appetites. Like the phrase "Shared Joy is Double Joy", the NY-city inspired fast casual restaurant is introducing not one but FOUR amazing platters in its latest All New Sharing Platters menu - seafood, beef, poultry and lamb.

Seafood Platter (RM 89.90). The Seafood Platter comes with an authentic bend of fried calamari along with garlic shrimp on the side, combining with a sizzling plate of Emerald Fish. The calamari was crunchy but if you ask me, I'd say the soft and flaky fish was the star of the platter.

Lamb Platter (RM 99.90). Featuring a combination of lamb sausages along with lamb stew and sizzling lamb noisette on the side. The sausages were well-seasoned and juicy; while the stew was rich and hearty, although I would wish for flavours of the lamb to be more pronounced. On the other hand, the Lamb Noisette was perfect! Crispy crust around the edges, juicy and tender on the inside, this is one of my favourite dishes from the platters.

Poultry Platter (RM 89.90). Consists of Rosemary chicken and chicken cevapi toghether with a sizzling duck chop. The chicken wasn't too bad but nothing to shout about. The duck chop was perfectly seasoned and very tender and juicy.

Beef Platter (RM 99.90). For those who love red meat, you can indulge yourself in the Beef Platter which consists of a beef tenderloin skewer cooked to perfection along with beef meatballs on the side.

All of the sharing platters are complemented with pumpkin rice, fries and mixed vegetables. As for the sizzling entree, you can opt to order as an ala carte option starting from RM 23.90.

Pineapple Lemonade (RM 9.90). Indulge your meal by enhancing it with some refreshing mocktails or smoothies. I had the Pineapple Lemonade Smoothie and I find the zesty lemon flavours are perfect to wash down all the food we had.

The All New Sharing Platters is now available from 14 May to 15 July 2018. All food items served at NY Steak Shack are Halal certified. In conjunction with the Ramadhan and Aidilfitri period, RM5 from every platter menu purchased will be donated to Rumah Titian Kaseh and a donation box will be placed at all 10 NY Steak Shack outlets as part of the fundraising initiative.

Brighter and Glowy Skin with Elsa Bright Laser @ ME Aesthetic Clinic

There are many things us ladies will do to make sure our skin condition is as good as it can be. From skin care to makeup, we wouldn't mind spending that extra time and putting that extra effort to take care of our skin.

Back then, I wasn't that kind of girl who bother putting effort doing all these; but at one point, my skin condition got really bad and left me with acne scars for years. It took me years (more than 10 years to be exact!!) to treat my skin, but because my skin was in so bad condition, I'm still battling with the scarring and some other problems. I stumbled upon M.E. Aesthetic Clinic months ago, and decided to check them out.

ME Aesthetic Clinic is a one-stop center providing evidence-based modern facilities and medispa services to fulfill your aesthetic desires. Managed by a team of well-trained and experienced doctors and clinic assistants, the clinic provides cutting-edge non-invasive and minimally invasive techniques designed for total facial rejuvenation and enhancements.

They have 3 branches in Malaysia - 2 branches in KL and 1 branch in Skudai, Johor; and I went to the one located in Berjaya Times Square. Stepping into the clinic, I was immediately greeted by their friendly staffs before going in for consultation. The doctors and clinic assistants were very patience in both examining my skin condition and explaining the procedures to me, and this totally made me feel at ease.

After examining my skin condition, they recommended me to focus the treatment on my pigmentation and acne scars. I was recommended to start off with their Elsa Bright Laser Treatment, also known as Q Switch:ND Yag Laser, for the pigmentation first. Apparently, the treatment is said to help:

- Brightening of the skin
- Diminish pigmentation
- Instant glow
- Collagen stimulation

Also, I was informed the Elsa Bright Laser is a very fast treatment with very little to no down-time. Hence, many people would do it over their lunch time or when they have events to attend.

A round of thorough cleansing before starting the treatment.

Next, apply numb cream on the face and leave it on for 15 minutes.

Honestly, I was a little bit nervous doing the laser treatment mainly because I wasn't sure how the pain is going to be, or will there be any pain at all. LOL!!! It turned out to be surprisingly OK for me. When starting the treatment, the doctor checked with me if the sensation was bearable for me.

I have to admit there was slight prickly pain but nothing was unbearable. Before I knew it, the treatment was done and it only took around 15 minutes.

Here comes my favourite part - soothing mask! The cooling sensation of the mask hitting the face right after a laser treatment was just what I needed. Plus, the machine massaging the mask onto the skin was really very soothing.

Some redness here and there on the skin right after the treatment. Surprisingly, it really wasn't too bad. Compared to some of the facial treatments I went that left my skin looking worse from all the extractions, this was really acceptable for me. However, I was advice to keep out of direct contact with sunlight and constantly apply my sunblock. On the other hand, it is perfectly fine to apply makeup after treatment.

1-2 days after Elsa Bright Laser Treatment. The areas of treatment darkened but I was told it will eventually go off within a week.

The photo was taken before I went for Elsa Bright Laser Treatment. Though not very serious, but the pigmentation were still quite visible.

The photos were taken one week after the treatment. Can see that my skin is clearer now and the pigmentation has reduced and not so visible, compared to before. Also, I realized apply makeup is now much easier and they stay longer too.

On top of Elsa Bright Laser Treatment, I went back to have a different treatment done at ME Aesthetic Clinic too. The main reason that I felt comfortable and safe at ME Aesthethic Clinic is because all of their procedures are done by qualified doctors who know what they are doing.

So...stay tune for my updates!

[Guest Post] Best Seafood Spots in Hawaii by Ella

Source
Hawaii has a well-earned reputation for being a little slice of paradise on earth, due mainly to its gorgeous setting, unforgettable views, and warm climate. But if you're a seafood lover, there's an even better reason to choose Hawaii for your next vacation: the abundance of delicious fish, often caught that very day in the turquoise waters of the Pacific.

Ono, ahi, mahi mahi--these are just a few of the local delicacies you can expect to sample on your tour of the islands. But where are the best spots to chow down? While it's difficult to find a Hawaiian restaurant that doesn't turn out a good seafood dish (even the burger joints often feature a fish entrée), here's a rundown of the crème de la crème.

Paia Fish Market, Maui
Source
This highly rated hot spot is known for being one of Willie Nelson's favorite hangouts when he visits Maui. Photos of him and a bevy of other celebs are pasted across every inch of the walls in the flagship restaurant, which is located in picturesque, laid-back Paia town. Offerings are centered around the fresh catch of the day--several varieties of local fish, prepared either grilled, sautéed in lemon butter, seasoned with Cajun spices, or blackened. Chicken and fish tacos are also available, with a smattering of pasta dishes and salads to round out the menu.

Other locations can be found on bustling Front Street in Lahaina, and Southside in Kihei. For a look at the full menu, visit their website.

Ono Seafood Products, Honolulu
Source
Visitors to Hawaii's capital can enjoy great bargains on mouthwatering selections at this laid-back eatery, which functions as a sort of oasis in the busy city. Fresh and affordable, with a no-frills atmosphere, Ono Seafood Products gets high ratings on both Yelp and Trip Advisor
. First-timers should definitely sample the poke bowl, as it's a favorite with repeat visitors. To visit their Facebook page, click here.

Quinn's Almost By the Sea, Kailua-Kona
This charmingly named eatery also gets high marks for its casual atmosphere, not to mention its stunning location on the western shore of the Big Island. Even the pickiest eaters will find something to savor on the extensive menu, which always features a fresh catch of the day, fish tacos, and some of the best fish and chips you'll find in Hawaii. Quinn's is open daily from 11 am to 11 pm, making it one of the easiest spots to hit on your tour. To check out their menu, head over to their easily navigable website.

Lahaina Fish Co., Lahaina
Source
A visit to the islands would not be complete without a stop in charming Lahaina town (don't be put off by the name, which means "cruel sun"), and Lahaina would not be the same without Front Street, where this delightful eatery can be found. Lahaina Fish Co. has it all: stellar views, a fabulous deck, and a menu laced with delicacies such as macadamia-crusted mahi mahi and coconut curry made with island fish. Bonus tip: If you enjoy a good rum every now and again, don't miss out on the mai-tais at this oceanfront gem! Check out their fun, eclectic menu here.

Hula Grill Waikiki, Waikiki
Source
Located at the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort, this beachfront destination entices island-goers with tasty offerings from brunch to lunch to dinner. Enjoy oysters on the half shell, so-fresh-it's-almost-wriggling sashimi, harissa-roasted monchong, or herb-grilled opah--all while taking in a view of the ocean in which these delicacies so recently swam. Wash it all down with one of the Hula Grill's signature cocktails, crafted with the finest spirits and local ingredients. Live music is featured on certain nights; check the website to learn more.

Most travelers don't need an excuse to visit Hawaii, not even the ones who crave fine seafood at every meal. But it's nice to have another reason to seek out this uniquely beautiful portion of the globe nonetheless. Again, if you come across a spot that looks promising, don't pass it up simply because it doesn't appear on this list--Hawaii has too many wonderful seafood restaurants to name in a day, and the freshness can't be beat, no matter which corner of the islands you happen to be exploring. AT the end of the trip, you'll likely be able to come up with a list of your own. So enjoy the adventure, and bon appetit!
