Spread the Love this CNY 2018 with Julie's "What's Your Love Letter"

It is the time of the year again where we are busy buying gifts for friends and family, and celebrate the auspicious season of Chinese New Year. Ushering this coming Chinese New Year, Julie's has launched a "What's Your Love Letter" campaign, where you can write down your most sincere messages to your loved ones.

Julie's was established in Alor Gajah, Melaka in 1981. Starting from a single plant that produces crackers, Julie's product range has increased to include other types of biscuits such as cream sandwich, wafer rolls, waffles, cookies and others. With the founder's philosophy of "What I don't eat, I don't let people eat", Julie's biscuits are baked with specially selected raw materials and ingredients for their quality and nutrition value. The company is not one of the top 3 biscuit brands in the country.

Since the initiation of "What's Your Love Letter" Campaign in 2015, they have received warm response from the public. Over the years, they have done it in different ways from postcards to "Love Invites"; and this year they have launched the campaign at Sunway Velocity Mall with a different way for you to express your love.

To celebrate this year's Chinese New Year, Julie's has designed a special "Fudai" along with their 700gram Julie's Love Letters. Inside the Fudai, there is a Love Note for you to write down your blessings and thank you notes to your friends and relatives.

Stardust Eyebrow Embroidery @ Beverlyn Beauty: Effortless Natural-Looking Brows!

When I first started putting on makeup, it took me quite some time to familiarize with all the different types of cosmetics, how they work and how to apply them. One of the thing that took me extra time to master is doing my eyebrows. For someone who has very sparse eyebrows, it has always been a task and many times I'll end up with 2 different looking eyebrows.

Over the years, the thought of having my eyebrows tattooed came to mind, but I was a bit worry what if the person does a bad job? It's gonna be a disaster! 2 months ago, I came to know Beverlyn Beauty at Kepong through a friend of mine.

Beverlyn Beauty is located in Bukit Manjalara in Kepong. The shop is owned by Beverlyn, who has 6 years of experience in eyebrow embroidery.

Apart from eyebrow embroidery, they provide other services such as facial, eyeliner embroidery, lip tattoo, make up and personal make up classes too. I went there without having anything specific in my mind, so I decided to leave it up to Beverlyn to decide on what type of eyebrows would suit me best.

Removing the makeup around my eye and eyebrow area before starting the procedure.

Before actually doing the eyebrow, she would use an eyebrow pencil to draw the outline of the shape that she is going to do.

At first glance, the eyebrows did look quite thick. However, according to Beverlyn, it won't look as thick once it starts to peel. Also, compared to the usual technique, Stardust technique gives the brows a more natural look. The downside? It last only around 2 years and you would need a touch-up.

Numbing cream will be applied to reduce the pain while doing the embroidery. Compared to tattoo, eyebrow embroidery is less painful in my personal opinion. But I guess the skin around my eyes area is quite sensitive, so Beverlyn had to stop for a few times to let my skin rest before going any further.

Though I find the pain is still bearable, but there were few moments the pain gotten a bit too much and I had to request Beverlyn to apply more numbing cream. The entire process would take around 20 minutes, but will still depends on how easily your skin in taking on the colour.

Tadaaa!! This is how it looked right after the embroidery. Honestly speaking, it took me a long time to accept it because I felt it was really thick and dark. But Beverlyn assured me that once it starts to peel, the brows will look natural. Oh yeah, you'll see it starts to peel from the 3rd days onwards. During this period, it is very important to avoid the brows coming in contact with water (so... it was a little bit troublesome to cleanse my face), and it will start to itch a bit.

So, to give you guys a better picture of my brows situation:

As you can see, I had very sparse eyebrows. It used to take me a long time to draw my eyebrows, and I had so many occasions where it starts to "fade" if I accidentally rubbed my brows. But now, it is so much easier for me to put on my makeup and no longer need to worry if I still have my brows halfway through my day! Also, I love how natural they look now.

Usually after a week, you can tell if you need any further touch-up or not. If you do, you can always go back after 1 month to do your touch-up, which is already included in the initial price you paid for. If you are thinking to do eyebrow embroidery, I will definitely recommend Beverlyn. She is very patient and really good in what she does.

A:Concept : Make Your Concept Black Set

Hello, hello! I'm back with another beauty post and I would like to talk about makeup in this post!

Apart from trying out new skincare, being able to try and experiment on cosmetics are really a fun thing for me. Though I'm no expert in makeup, but I still do enjoy trying out new things and see what look or combination I could come up with. And today's review is on A:Concept - a Korean beauty brand.

It's my first time coming across this brand and I'm pretty curious over what the brand has to offer. The set comes in a black box (duh.... it's called the Black Set) and the design is very chic, I like!

The set comes with 4 products:

- All-In-One Brightening A:Cushion (comes in shade #21 Light Beige & #23 Natural Beige)
- All-In-One Brightening A:Cushion Refill
- Everything in A:Coral Lip & Cheek
- A:Red Orange Lipstick

Basically, this is THE BOX for you where you'll get all your basic makeup need.

It comes with instructions on how to assemble the set.

All-In-One Brightening A:Cushion #23 Natural Biege

First off, the A:Concept Cushion. I really like the black colour especially the puff, which is quite soft.

The shade I've gotten from Althea is #23 Natural Beige. After peeling the hygiene seal you'll get to the cushion. The cushion has SPF35, PA++, and claims to have whitening, anti-wrinkles and UV protection functions. The cushion has a very very mild scent and I like the mild cooling sensation when I applied the cushion.

Next, let's take a look at the Red Orange Lipstick and Coral Lip & Cheek.

Top: Everything in A:Coral Lip & Cheek
Bottom: A:Concept Red Orange Lipstick

Everything in A:Coral Lip & Cheek

Coral is probably the most loved colour by Asian women. On days where you want to look effortless or go for the natural look, coral gives you that little of colour yet not too loud. As the name suggested, this is a 2-in-1 product where you can apply on both lips and cheek.

I was a little worry that the colour might look to pale on me but it turned out otherwise. I like the natural colour it gives to my lips. Definitely a colour that is suitable to be worn on a daily basis.

A:Red Orange Lipstick

The lipstick has a nice blend of red and orange. The colour is really vibrant and brightens up the makeup immediately.

Personally, I don't really like colours that are too red but I like the hint of orange in this lipstick. I think this is a nice colour to wear both day and night.

I love the texture of both the lip & cheek and lipstick - creamy and glide on easily when I apply on my lips. To test out how moisture they truly are, I passed it to my mom to try it out too. She has really dry lips and always need to apply a layer of Vaseline to moist her lips before applying lipstick. After trying out the lip & cheek and lipstick from A:Concept, she really like it a lot and find them to be moisturizing enough for her dry lips.

You'll notice there's a hole at the side of the cushion casing. It is for you to insert either the lip & cheek or lipstick.

Slide your preferred lipstick into the space and you are ready to go!

To use the lipstick, just open up the case and it will pop out automatically. This is super convenient and no longer need to bring tons of makeup along. All I need is just this one All in One Brightening A:Cushion Compact for my daily look or whenever I need to touch-up my makeup.

Once again, thanks The Butterfly Project and Althea for giving me this chance to try out A:Concept. It has been fun and interesting!

You can check out Althea to know more on A:Concept, and if you are interested to try out the products:

Neutrogena Hydrogel Mask & Capsule Sleeping Mask

I tend to be very lazy in lots of things, but when it comes to facial mask, I'm probably one of the most diligent person you'll ever known. Because I have a pretty busy schedule and always on the go, it is very important for me to have some "me time" at night to pamper my skin. I'm constantly on the lookout for facial masks, and recently I get to try out 2 new masks from Neutrogena!

First, let's have a look at the Neutrogena Hydrogel Mask.

Compared to wash-off masks, sheet masks is so much more convenient, especially if you are travelling. The Neutrogena Hydrogel Mask is an 100% paperless mask which holds up to 50% more essence than a paper face mask. As the hydrogel melts, the serum on the mask is absorbed into the skin. On top of this, the face mask contours the skin nicely and seals in its hydrating formula for optimal absorption too.

The hydrogel mask comes in 2 variants:
 - Fine Fairness Hydrogel Mask - contains Niacinamide which leaves skin luminous and radiant looking.
- Hydro Boost Hydrogel Mask - contains 100% natural derived Hyaluronic Acid to replenish moisture continuously, leaving skim optimally hydrated, radiant and supple.

After a hectic December month, I'm gonna try out the Hydro Boost Hydrogel Mask.

There are 2 parts to the mask - one for the cheek and chine, the other for the forehead and nose. I like this design better, as I get to adjust the mask to fit my face nicely. Unlike the usual one-piece sheet mask, it is either covering a corner of my eye or my lips. I notice the mask is thinner than the usual hydrogel mask. I was expecting lots of dripping of the serum, but to my surprise there was none.

As per instruction, I put on the mask for 15 minutes before removing it. Usually there will not quite a bit of excess serum left on my face after I remove my sheet mask, but not this time. There was hardly any serum left on the mask itself, and I believe my skin really needs all the moisture from the mask.

The Hydrogel gel is ONLY available in Guardian with RM 13.90 per piece.

Next up, the Neutrogena Capsule Sleeping Mask.

Same as the hydrogel mask, there are 2 variants to the capsule sleeping mask too:

- Fine Fairness Capsule Sleeping Mask - contains Niacinamide which leaves skin luminous and radiant looking.
- Hydro Boost Capsule Sleeping Mask - contains 100% natural derived Hyaluronic Acid to replenish moisture continously, leaving skim optimally hydrated, radiant and supple.

The sleeping mask comes in 10ml size, and it is actually too much for one-time usage. You can store the capsule in the fridge too cool it down so you can have a much better experience applying the mask. Same goes to the sheet mask, these capsules are really super convenient as an on-the-go fix. Apart using it as a sleeping mask, you can also apply a thin layer and leave it on for about 15 minutes to rejuvenate your skin.

The sleeping mask has a thicker and slightly creamy texture. After chilling it in the fridge, I used it as a 15 minutes mask. I really like the cooling effect which helps a lot in soothing my skin. However, instead of 15 minutes, the mask dries up just after 7-8 minutes. I guess my skin is really dry and in need of the moisture. If your skin is on the dry side, you might want to consider using it as a sleeping mask or apply a thicker layer, if using as a 15 minutes mask.

The Neutrogena Capsule Sleeping Mask is ONLY available at Watsons at RM 12.90 per capsule.

Personally, I'd both the hydrogel mask and sleeping mask pretty good, but my vote would go to the capsule sleeping mask. Though the pricing can be a bit steep, but I do think the products deliver in terms of results and convenience wise. Unfortunately, both products are sold separately at Guardian and Watsons.

La Biosthetique Protection Cheveux Complexe (PCC) Treatment: A Long Lasting Hair Treatment!

Most of us put lots of efforts in taking care of our skin. From skincare to putting on makeup, we would go the distance to make sure that we look good. However, there is one part of our body that most of us neglect - our hair!

With all the colouring, perming and straightening, the chemicals we used are actually very harmful to our hair. It is very important to get your hair treatment done, once a month if possible, to ensure your hair is in good condition. Though is a good idea to do your hair treatment at home, but it is also very important to drop by a salon regularly to get proper treatment that could last for a long time. Recently, I've came across the new La Biosthetique Protection Cheveux Complexe (PCC) Treatment while attending media preview.

La Biosthetique was founded in 1950s, and it has an international reputation for its premium quality products. Each product is created with intensive research and produce on the outskirts of the Black Forest. Using only high quality raw materials, products of La Biosthetique are subjected to strict tolerability and efficacy test at European University Clinics to ensure they are safe to be used without testing on animals.

The PCC Treatment has been bio-chemically engineered for a lasting regeneration of the damaged hair. Instead of fixing the surface, this groundbreaking treatment works on damaged hair from within and hence, the long lasting effect than other ordinary hair treatments. Apart from making your hair silky smooth, PCC Treatment also helps to rebuild the natural bonds in your hair and increase the strength in the hair.

An interesting talk by Mr. Alexander from La Biosthetique on the treatment. It was really an informative yet interesting talk, and I learnt something new from it.

A live demo on the PCC Treatment.

I was amazed by the instant result of the PCC Treatment. Just after one treatment the hair is bouncier, healthier and less frizzy. It is really soft to the touch too.

If you are looking for an instant fix to your hair that gives you long lasting results, the Protection Cheveux Complexe (PCC) Treatment is definitely a good option. On top of getting your PCC Treatment done in salon, La Biosthetique also has home treatment range where you can make sure your hair gets the best!
