When it comes to dessert, we girls always have that extra space in us to eat more. So, you can only imagine my excitement when I found out Caffe Bene has launched a new series of dessert. To make it more exciting, it is a series with a heavenly combination of chocolate AND cheese!!
So, my friends and I went to the branch in Mid Valley to try the ChocoCheese ourselves. OK, it has been quite some time since I last stepped foot into any Caffe Bene branches, and I'm really liking the cosy feeling of their Mid Valley branch. Better still, there is a long table inside the cafe with power source, so that you can do some work while enjoying your desserts or coffee at Caffe Bene.
ChocoCheese Bingsu (RM 29.90). Caffe Bene is famous for their bingsu and you can't try their new series without having their bingsu. The ChocoCheese Bingsu is a combination of sweet chocolate and savoury cheese in a double sized bingsu!
Enjoy their signature shaved ice dessert served generously with sweet chocolate sauce, crunchy cookie crumble, cheese shavings and cheese sauce. Not to forget their toppings of cream cheese gelato and a slice of creamy cheese cake too!
ChocoCheese Bene Pastry (RM 21.90). Not a fan of icy dessert? Go for pastry then! Warm buttery pastry freshly prepared, topped with dark chocolate gelato, drizzled in ChocoCheese sauce with shaved cheese slices at the side. The pastry is soft and crumbly, and quite filling too.
ChocoCheese Mocha (RM 16.90). Chocolate and coffee is not a new combination, but with cheese?! Enjoy your favourite sweet aromatic Mocha topped with cheese foam. The sweet and savoury flavous are unimaginably delightful. The Mocha is available for both hot and cold option.
Chocolate and cheese lovers, dessert lovers.... don't miss out the chance to indulge yourself with your favourite dessert! The ChocoCheese series is the final seasonal menu of Caffe Bene for 2017. It is available from now till 7/1/2018.
Apart from ChocoCheese, Caffe Bene is also having promotion on every Wednesday too!

For the past few years, quite a few cafe owners have chosen Seksyen 17 in Petaling Jaya to open their business. It could be the neighbourhood, it could be the students nearby. No matter what is the reason, it is always good news for a foodie like me when there's a new eatery to explore. Recently, I came across a pretty interested cafe named Good Blue Men on Instagram, and gotten a chance to drop by the cafe to try out some of their food.
Good Blue Men doesn't have a huge variety on their menu. A few choices of sandwiches, couple of rice bowls, and some mains to satisfy the meat-lovers. Not only they have different menu choices from others, but you can definitely tell they have put their heart and soul into creating each of their dishes.
Cheezy Meltdown (RM 18). Serves with 3 types of cheeses, sauteed mushroom, hashbrown, tomato, homemade traditional white bread. This is a meltdown indeed! I can't help and started to salivate when I saw the cheese oozing out from the bread. If you love simple cheezy food, this is a must order.
Kam Heong Chicken (RM 21). Homemade kam heong sauce sauce with 13 herbs and spices, chicken breast, Arugula, Japanese cucumber, homemade Oregano toast. Apart from the Chinese dai chow stalls, this is my first time having kam heong in a sandwich form. I'd must say I love the spicy kam heong sauce that goes so perfectly well as a sandwich gravy. Who knew! On top of the Cheezy Meltdown, I've found another new love!
Beef Pineapple (RM 20). Slow cooked beef sauce, pulled beef, pickles, Jalapenos, pineapples, Cranberry toast. Tender and beefy fillings is a winner for me, but I could use without the pineapples. But then again, this is purely my personal preference.
Teriyaki Showdown - Chicken (RM 18). Rice bowl has been my favourite ever since I've discovered the existence of this "convenient" dish! A bowl of rice serves with sweet Teriyaki chicken, soft-boiled egg and some vegetables at the side. Don't forget to mix all the ingredients altogether and make sure you covered them nicely with the runny creamy egg yolk.
Beef Tomato Rice (RM 17). Love your beef bolognese sauce? Then you wouldn't want to miss out on this.
Disaster Platter (RM 17). Milky, choc and matcha pancake with ice cream, brownies, marshmallows and almond nibs. Looking at the stack of pancakes, I was a little bit skeptical over the dessert, but I totally changed my mind after the first bite. The pancakes are light and fluffy yet not too sweet despite all the brownies bits and chocolate sauce dressing. Girls, give this a try!
Blood Jack (RM 15). Sweet-tart pomegranate and lime juice mix with cola and double espresso. A nice play-off between the tangy notes of lime and sweetness of cola in the espresso.
Rusty Latte (RM 11). DON'T STIR OR SHAKE!!! Watch the espresso mix together with the milk as it flows down from the top. The entire process only take seconds but I felt it's pretty therapeutic to watch. LOL!
Espresso Mojito (RM 15). A little bit of fizzy and minty, very refreshing.
Mint To Be (RM 13). Bitter iced coffee at the bottom, fresh mint whipped cream on top. Speaking of mint, if you really love mint AND whipped cream, the Mint To Be might be your cup of coffee.
Although the Good Blue Men doesn't have any vibrant or eye-catching exterior, but good food and coffee are definitely the factors that would make you want to go back again.

Long period of sun exposure is really bad for the skin, not only it causes skin cancer but the skin aged faster too. What are your ways in protecting the skin? Sunblock? What else?? How about, incorporating aloe vera into your skincare?
On top of treating sunburn, aloe vera acts as a moisturizer and fights aging of the skin by improving the skin's natural firmness and keeping it hydrated. Over the years, I've heard many good things about aloe vera but it has only served as a anti-sunburn treatment for me, until I got the chance to try out FromNature Aloe Vera Moisture Soothing Set.
FromNature is a Korean skincare brand. The moment I opened the box, I fell in love with the dark green colour packaging. Also, I was quite surprise with the quality of the bottles. Instead of using some cheap-textured plastic bottles, FromNature uses glass as their packaging. Seriously, nothing beats the satisfaction of getting hold of quality products that comes with quality packaging.
Aloe Vera Moisture Soothing Skin 150ml
It is an essence type of daily moisture soothing skin that moisture the dry skin and keep skin moist and smooth.
It has a watery texture and I use this as my daily toner and apply it with facial cotton. I like the soothing effect and how refreshing my skin felt after applying it.
Aloe Vera Moisture Soothing Lotion 125ml
Moisture soothing lotion that calms the skin by balancing the oil balance for sensitive and dry skin from external stimuli and make healthy skin.
The lotion is white in colour and has a thicker texture. Due to the thicker texture, it is quite difficult to pour the lotion. I have to shake the bottle a few times to loosen the lotion before I could pour and apply it. The lotion leaves a slight sticky residue at first, but it gets absorb very fast and feels very light on my skin after that.
Aloe Vera Moisture Soothing Essence 35ml
Soothes the tired and dry skin, nourishes with abundant nutrition, and gently cleanses skin with moisture to restore skin's natural vitality and nutrition.
The essence has a cream-like texture, but surprisingly felt very light on the skin. I like how fast my skin absorb the essence, and it works perfectly well as a moisture booster.
Aloe Vera Moisture Soothing Cream 80g
Daily aloe soothing cream that calms dry and rough skin with intensive moisturizing care.
Unlike many cream products in the market, the soothing cream has a lighter texture, but still a tad heavier compared to the soothing lotion. Since I have dry-combination skin, I use this as my night moisturizer as I don't want to burden my skin too much. However, if you have really dry skin, you might want to try using this during the day.
After using this for more than a month, I'm really liking the results. My skin feels less oily, even after I put on my makeup; and I realize my acne scars heal faster too.
Product: FROMNATURE Aloe Vera Moisture Soothing Set (4pcs)
Price: RM 145.08
For a skincare range that is effective with good quality packaging, I'd say the price is pretty reasonable.
To know more information on FROMNATURE, you can check out their Facebook Page. There are many more products from FROMNATURE and if you are interested to try them out for yourself, you can purchase from 11street or ezbuy if you are from Singapore.
December is FINALLY HERE, and it is the month of celebration! With Christmas and New Year Eve coming real soon, many restaurants are rolling out their special menu. I've started my research for Christmas special menu since November and I found out about Cincin Restaurant & Wine Bar at Cheras.
"Cincin" means cheers in Italian. It is the first cosy & elegant restaurant in Cheras serving fine Western cuisine along with good selection of premium wines. Situated at a corner lot, Cincin is a 2-storey restaurant with its ground floor mainly for beer and casual dining; while 1st floor is a perfect place for wine dining, which would require a tiny bit of dressing up - smart casual.
Padre Pedro Reserve Branco (White). Started our dinner with a glass of white wine, which has a nice fruity note.
Caesar Salad. A plate of crispy greens and smoked salmon drizzled with house special dressing. I enjoy bold flavours in my food; but if you prefer something light as your appetizer, then you might find the Caesar Salad to be a little bit too salty.
Clear Soup with Truffle Oil. I love the robust flavours of truffle and I was pretty surprised that the earthiness of truffles goes so well with the aromatic herbal notes in the soup.
Grilled Portobello with Bacon and Cheese. The meaty texture of Portobello topped with crispy bacon and cheese, this is my favourite dish!
Poach Salmon with White Wine Broth. The salmon is poached perfectly - tender and flaky, while the white wine broth ties the entire dish together. Unfortunately, the broth was quite salty during our dinner; otherwise, this could have been a perfect dish.
Aldeya Tinto (Red). When the waiter came over and changed my glass of wine to red, I knew right away I'll soon get to sink my teeth into that one dish I've been looking forward to the entire night....
Grilled Lamb Rack with Red Wine Rosemary Sauce. Succulent and tender lamb is so good that would make you want to have more of these babies.
Hojicha Creme Brulee. Had countless creme brulee but this is my first time trying Hojicha Creme Brulee. When the dessert was served, I was wondering where is the thin crust on top of the custard. When I took a second look only then I realized the crust is really really thin. If you are worry about the sweetness of the creme brulee, don't be. The sweetness of the smooth creamy custard is perfectly balanced out with the toasty notes of the hojicha.
Ballerina. While reading through the menu, the name "Ballerina" caught my attention. With such beautiful name, I was wondering how the dessert would look like. A selections of strawberries, lemon curd and Vanilla ice cream served inside a ball of thin meringue shell. The explosion of sweet & sour flavours in every bite is like a happy dance in the mouth. Ballerina, indeed!
After filling ourselves with food and wine, it cake cutting time!! Few of us November & December babies get to celebrate our birthday with our friends at Cincin.
With such beautiful decor and backdrop setups, Cincin is a perfect place for birthday celebration.
No matter what you have in mind, you can always discuss your idea with the restaurant. Oh ya, don't forget to make your reservation so they can serve you at their best.
Photo sessions after food and wine and cakes!!
