A Toast @ Jalan Pudu, KL: A Genki Breakfast & Juice Bar at KL

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, don't you agree?

With the busy schedule of today's world, many of us don't have the luxury to enjoy our breakfast - especially on weekdays. Hence, most people will either skip breakfast or resort to something fast and easy that they can grab from the convenient stores. Either way, it is not ideal.

Located along Jalan Pudu, A Toast is a breakfast & juice bar that provides fast and simple yet delicious breakfast options.

A Toast has limited indoor seats, but nothing beats starting a day with delicious breakfast while soaking in the cosy warming sun. No time to sit around for breakfast? Have your breakfast on the go then!

As the name suggested, they offer a series of toasts, salads and wraps along with freshly-squeezed fruit juices and coffees.

Bamboo Charcoal Toast Sandwich (RM 9.30). Scrambled egg and cheese with spicy chicken floss. The mild spiciness of the chicken floss worked perfectly in awakening that taste bud in the morning.

Black Sesame Toast Sandwich (RM 9.30). Sunny side up and chicken ham. Every bite was just bursting with nutty and smoky flavours of the sesame. I love this!

Wholemeal Toast Sandwich (RM 9.30). Cheesy hashbrown with sunny side up. Crispy hashbrown and creamy egg yolk, need I say more? Yummy!

Cheesy Grilled Chicken Open Sandwich (RM 13.90). Black sesame toast with grilled chicken breast, salad and cheesy sauce. Somehow it reminded me a lot of the cheesy wedges from certain fast food chain.

Breakfast Potato Salad (RM 12.90). Poached egg on potato salad with ham, bell pepper, tomato and butter toast. One of my favourite and a must order at A Toast. I was happy to find that the mashed potatoes were chunky, which gave the salad some extra texture; while the bell peppers added a hint of peppery flavours to dish. Remember to toss all the ingredients together so you get to enjoy all the ingredients with every mouthful.

Big Breakfast (RM 16.90). Scrambled egg, ham, hashbrown, cheese sausage, salad and charcoal toast. Fans of big breakfast, you can get it at A Toast too.

Dragonfruit + Grape + Apple (RM 8.90). Enjoy the natural sweetness of the fruits.

Banana + Grape + Apple (RM 8.90). It was so refreshing, and we love this so much that morning at A Toast.

Iced Milk Coffee (RM 6.90). Not too bad for a breakfast and juice bar.

Iced Green Tea Latte (RM 8.90).

We had an extremely nice morning at A Toast. Sitting at the outdoor, bath in the sun while savouring our breakfast. The weather in Malaysia can be crazily hot most of the time and we will all be looking for air-cond or choose to stay indoors. That's why I really cherish the moments where the weather is nice that I get to stay outdoor. Well, I guess I'm just an outdoor girl who.... really loves the sun!

Good news people.. A Toast opens 7 days a week!! We were at A Toast during a weekday morning, but the crowd never stopped coming in. You'll be thinking where can you get a parking spot at Jalan Pudu right? Take a turn to the back alley of the row of shops and you'll find plenty of parking spots.

Enjoy your breakfast people!!!

MenstruHeat & NeckHeat by PSLove: Non-Medicated Heat Relief

You know what they said it is more fun to a girl? Well, I totally agree to that statement. However, being a girl also means that we have to go through menstrual cycle. Honestly, it is not the easiest thing to go through; and sometimes. it can be a painful experience.

As a fellow menstrual cramp "sufferer", I need to go through the monthly pain. I've tried all means - from taking medication to be more cautions in what I consume, nothing seems to work effectively. To top it off, working in front of the computer for long hours made me realized that I'm starting to have stiff shoulders.

I recently received a package from PSLove with MentruHeat and NeckHeat in it. PSLove is a Singaporean-based feminine healthcare startup, and the products are said to be 100% natural heat therapy patch to relieve muscle cramps and relax the muscle at the neck and shoulder area.

MenstruHeat

Each pack of MenstruHeat comes with 1 pad for single use only.

Heat therapy is clinically-proven to relieve menstrual cramps, and MentruHeat is designed to emit an optimum level of heat to relax the cramping uterine muscles.

The heating pad has 2 sticky sides and the size of the pad is just nice to cover the abdomen area. I didn't get to try the MenstruHeat as I wasn't having my menstrual when I gotten it, but I could feel the heat after I took it out from the packaging. The pad will heat up on its own upon contact with air. I tested the heat for a bit and it was very soothing. I'm very sure this will come in handy when I'm starting to have those irritating cramps...

To use MentstruHeat, peel and paste the pad onto the abdomen area. There are 3 ways to use it, depending on your preference of heat level:

1. Underside of Shirt (Less Heat) - Stick the sticky side to the underside of the shirt, and the cotton side will contact the abdomen.
2. On top of Underwear (Medium Heat) - Stick the heating pad onto the underwear. This will reduce the heat conducted to your skin.
3. On Skin (Most Heat) - Directly paste the pad onto your abdomen and the body heat will speed up the heating process. This is NOT ADVISABLE for those with sensitive skin.

Personally, I think I'll go for the 2nd option. Just by touching the pad itself I could already felt the heat.

NeckHeat

Same as the MenstruHeat, there's 1 air-activated heat pad for single usage only.

In today's digital world, we are spending long hours in front of our laptops, phones and tablets. As time goes by, our neck and shoulders start to ache. To solve this problem, PSLove has designed NeckHeat to help release neck & shoulder ache.

NeckHeat is designed to produce an optimum level of heat to relax the tension in the neck and shoulders.

The NeckHeat is is the shape of a boomerang. You can paste the heat pad across the back of your shoulder.

NeckHeat is also designed to be "tear-able". Split them into half, and you can paste the heat pad exactly where you need it the most.

There are few ways that you can use NeckHeat:

1. On top of Shirt (Less Heat) - Paste the heat pad on top of your shirt.
2. On Skin (More Heat) - Paste the heat pad directly onto the skin. You body heat will speed up the heating process, but is NOT ADVISABLE for sensitive skin.

I've tried the 2nd method and thought the heat was very soothing. The pad didn't get too hot as I would have expected.

My personal thoughts on the heat pads? It gets heat up real fast! The moment it's exposed to the air, the pad started to heat up by itself. I didn't have to sit around and wait for it to heat up. Also, it's very easy to use. Just peel and paste!

Usually I don't like to paste anything on my skin because it will either be super painful to peel off, or the edges would start to irritate my skin a lot. I'm very happy that the NeckHeat sits perfectly on my shoulder and the pain was very minimal when I peeled it off. To top it off, the pads are odourless!!

Don't forget to remove the product for at least 5 minutes after every hour of use, to let the skin rest. Prolonged contact with low heat may cause burns.

Now ladies, I have an exclusive discount code for all of you! Use the code "rebeccaoff" and get 20% OFF when you purchase at www.pslove.co! Hurry, the promotion ends on 31st May 2017

Dessert Bar by Stanley Choong @ Sri Petaling: Cosy Dessert Bar with Pretty French Desserts

Ever heard of the saying "Diamond is a girl's best friend"?

Apart from diamonds, there is one more thing that will make if not all; most of the girls fall in love with. The answer is... desserts! For the past few weeks I've been visiting a few desserts bar, and one of them is Dessert Bar by Stanley Choong at Sri Petaling.

Look out for the cute neon pink bunny at the side of the entrance and you'll find the dessert bar.

Cosy sofas can be found all over the dessert bar, and this long table is my favourite spot!

Though not much choice, the desserts were all made personally by Stanley himself.

French Vanilla (RM 12). Choux pastry filled with Vanilla cream. If you enjoy cream puff, you might like this.

Matcha (RM 12). Not a fan of vanilla? Try the matcha fillings instead. Compared to Matcha, I personally prefer the French Vanilla as it doesn't taste as heavy.

Coconut Lime (RM 15). Pate sable, lime curd and coconut panacotta; perfect for those who loves sour-sweet desserts. Personally, I felt it reminded a lot of asam boi drink.

Fraisier (RM 15). Pate sable, creme patisseries strawberries & dehydrated meringue. A very pretty desserts, but at the same time it has a nice balance of sweet and tangy from the meringue and curd.

Yuzu (RM 18). This was my favourite dessert of the day as I really love yuzu a lot. Despite coated with chocolate, I could still taste the yuzu flavours.

Macaroon (RM 6.50/macaroon). They have recently introduced 2 new macaroon flavours - Sakura and Miso. Yes, miso! If you are not that adventurous, go for the Sakura flavours instead. Not too strong and it has a very subtle hint of floral.

Long Black (RM 10). After all the desserts, it's nice to balance out the sweetness with a cuppa.

Latte (RM 10).

Americano (RM 11).

Lemon Mint Soda (RM 12). Fizzy, minty and refreshing. This would be my go-to drinks if I'm looking for something cooling to go with the desserts.

There a quite a few dessert bars around Klang Valley, but Dessert Bar by Stanley Choong is one of the few that gives out a very cosy vibe.

Ru Di Fook Noodle Bar @ Kota Damansara: Chinese-Japanese Fusion Cuisine

When it comes to food heaven, Kota Damansara is one of the pit-stop for many foodies. If you frequent the area enough you'll know you'd be spoiled with all the choices found in Kota Damansara. Just a few days ago, a new restaurant has joined the F&B family in Kota Damansara - Ru Di Fook Noodle Bar.

Ru Di Fook is the brainchild of a group of very experience team, and one of them is Ken Wong who co-founded the 103 Coffee Workshop in Sri Petaling. Some of you folks might find the location of Ru Di Fook to be very familiar. Yes, they took over the corner where Rebellions used to be.

Despite being a noodle bar, Ru Di Fook has taken a very modern twist - both their menu and interior. I like that they kept the glass windows that allows sunlight to shine in. Cosy!! Plus.. nice lighting tends to produce better photos! Don't ya agree?

Coffee lovers, you are in luck! 103 Coffee Workshop serves one of the best coffee in town, and you can now enjoy their coffee at Ru Di Fook!!! Personally, I'm a happy girl right now!

Ru Di Fook is currently still under-going a soft launch period, but I had the chance to take a peak on some of their dishes!

Umeshu Plum Tomato (RM 9.80). I've had plum tomatoes years ago and fell in love with this side dish ever since. Sweet and juicy tomatoes soaked in plum sauce that was intensified by the Umeshu. It definitely awakens my taste bud and we finished the entire plate in few minutes! I definitely recommend this if you are looking for a light side dish that will kick-start your appetite at the same time too.

Fried Namyu Belly (RM 17). Juicy and tender fried namyu pork with black fungus puree. When served, I felt the pork looked dry but it turned out to be very tender and I could taste the namyu marinate. The best part? The pork belly wasn't even greasy after the dish cool down.

Kung Fu Mushroom (RM 10.80). Varieties of crispy fried Shimeij and Oyster mushroom served with plum aioli.

Fried Herby Spiced Wings (RM 20.80). Crispy, herbs and spice marinated chicken wings. Though I like how crispy and juicy the wings are, I felt they could use a tad more seasonings.

Wealthy Wantan - RM 3(6pcs), RM 10(6pcs), RM 15(10pcs). A bowl of piping hot boiled pork wanton soup was so comforting.

Wantan Mee (RM 4). I've never liked wantan mee, but I LOVE THIS A LOT!! It might be a small bowl, but the noodles were super springy and the house dressing was bursting with umami flavours. I seriously can probably eat 4-5 bowl of the wantan mee. A super-duper highly recommended dish at Ru Di Fook!

Horlicks Banana Crumble (RM 20.80) - three of my favourite things. Horlicks crumble, banana, whipped cream and creamy malt ice cream; I seriously can't choose which I like best! This is one dessert I'll go back for.

Tian Mimi Chawanmushi (RM 12.80). Soft and creamy soy custard topped with barley, ginko and crispy fuzuk. If you don't have a sweet tooth yet still want to have some dessert, this is certainly a good one to try out.

On top of your usual coffee and tea, Ru Di Fook serves cocktails and craft beer too. Ain't these Hitachino Nest Beer (RM 31/bottle) just too cute?!!

There are 5 flavours and we had the Saison Du Japon (RM 31). It has yuzu, honey, citrus and sweet spice. I like yuzu but I personally don't fancy the bitter after-taste of the beer. Then again, I'm not really a beer person. So, if you enjoy drinking beer, give these a try and let me know your thoughts!

Ru Di Fook has given all their dishes a very modern twist along with Japanese influence. Judging from the portion, I feel the pricing is a bit steep for the dishes, but I'm more than willing to pay for the noodles. They were so yummy and I'm craving for it right now as I'm writing this post!!!

Ru Di Fook will be having their grand launching on the 7th April 2017 (Friday). In conjunction with their launch, they are giving out FREE 100 coffee on first come first serve basis. The promotion starts from 7/4/2017 to 9/4/2017.  Also, for dine in only, with a minimum purchase of RM10, you'll be entitled to a free coffee too!

During their grand launch, their operation hours will be from 12pm to 11pm, with kitchen break from 4pm to 6pm.
