[Food] Tim Ho Wan @ The Gardens, Kuala Lumpur

Tim Ho Wan has been receiving a lot of praise ever since they opened up their first ever Malaysia branch in The Gardens, and the crowd has never stop coming in. I love dim sum but unfortunately I've yet to come across any decent dim sum restaurants. Since Tim Ho Wan has been so popular, I decided to try it out.

Liver Chee Cheong Fun
The skin of the Liver Chee Cheong Fun was a bit too thick and the liver was over-steamed.

Prawn Dumplings
Har Kau (a.k.a Prawn Dumplings) is one of my favourite dim sum and I had high hopes for this dish. Sadly, it was another average dish. The thickness of the was ok but the shrimp was lacking in flavours. I'm still searching for Har Kau that are so delicious that no dipping sauce are required - like the ones I had back in Hong Kong.

Beancurd Skin Roll with Pork & Shrimp
The Beancurd Skin Roll with Pork & Shrimp was slightly better than the Chee Cheong Fun and Har Kau. The gravy was flavourful and the beancurd skin wasn't thick.

Pan Fried Carrot Cake
Pan Fried Carrot Cake. The thin outer layer is slightly crunchy, and the inside is soft and moist.

Baked Bun with BBQ Pork
The Baked Bun with BBQ Pork was definitely THE HIGHLIGHT during the dinner! The crust was crispy and crumbly, and the pork fillings were perfectly seasoned with a good balance of fat and lean meat. I could finished 3 buns all by myself.

Malay Style Steamed Cake
I absolutely love the Malay Style Steamed Cake. It's light, fluffy and with the amount of sweetness. Downside? It's a little bit pricey for a piece of simple cake.

Apart from the food, I felt the place is really noisy. I would not recommend here if you are planning to have a nice chit-chat over your meal - unless you don't mind shouting or raising your voice to talk. The plus point of this place? Fast service. They'll go to each and every table to make sure all the orders have been served.

In conclusion, I don't think I'll ever be going back to the restaurant. The food were only mediocre and the pricing were quite high which doesn't justify the quality of the dishes we ordered.
