Eatssswork Art Studio Cafe 艺食屋の物语 @ Cheras

If you are familiar with the name Fuzio Coffee House, then you'll know they are no more operating at Bukit Bintang area. And.. if you are missing the food at Fuzio Coffee House, I have good news for you! The owner of Fuzio Coffee House has opened a new cafe at Cheras named Eastssswork Art Studio Cafe 艺食屋の物语!

Eatssswork Art Studio Cafe is really spacious and I like all the natural sunlight they are getting from the windows. The owner has put in lots of thoughts into the interior. If you look carefully, the tables were made from traditional sewing machine legs. The owner actually traveled to lots of places just to hunt down all these treasures!

Looking around the cafe, you'll find lots of crafts and artwork. They are just so cute!!

After finishing admiring the artwork, is time to feast!

Pork Fillet with Pesto (RM 16.90). Traditionally, pesto is made of basil, but the owner decided to give his own twist to the dish by using cilantro instead! Yes, cilantro. If you love cilantro, this pesto will definitely be your go-to dish. Personally, I don't fancy cilantro so I wasn't a big fan of this dish.

Compared to the pesto, I absolutely love the Pancetta Aglio Olio (RM 17.90). Look at the generous cuts of pancetta on top of the spaghetti! The aglio olio was a little bit spicy, but it goes very well with the savoury pancetta.

Lemon Chicken Chop (RM 17.90). A piece of tender and juicy chicken drizzled with lemon sauce. It was super appetizing and I love the chunky mashed potatoes with bacon bits. A highly recommended dish whenever you are at the cafe.

Pork Steak with White BBQ Sauce (RM 22.90). The pork was perfectly marinated and already very flavourful on its own. Spread the homemade garlic butter all over the pork while it's still hot, to enhance the flavour of the dish. Personally, I didn't feel the need to pair it with the sauce at all!

Lemon Lime Tea (RM 6.90). A bit of citrusy, the tea was very refreshing.

The Mojito (RM 9.90) was minty and very cooling. Another of my personal favourite at the cafe.

Banana-Berry Smoothie (RM 12.90). Who would have thought bananas and berries could go so well together. A little bit of sweet and a little bit of sour, the smoothie was surprisingly good! You don't want to miss out on this.

All the dishes at the cafe were prepared by the owner himself, and they will make a trip to the local market to buy fresh ingredients for the day. Located far far away from the busy streets of Cheras, Eatssswork Art Studio Cafe is a quiet and cosy cafe to chill. To make the cafe even more perfect, finding a parking at the area is super easy!

Ruyi & Lyn @ Bangsar Shopping Centre: Chinese Cuisine with A Modern Twist

If you have always been keeping up with the dining scene in Klang Valley, the name Ruyi & Lyn will definitely not be a stranger to you.

Ruyi & Lyn is located in a huge space on the 4th Floor at the back of BSC. Stepping into the restaurant, we were greeted by a spacious lounge area with comfy sofas.

During our visit to the restaurant, they were packing down from an event that was held the day before. So, we were seated at the cigar room instead of the main hall. The cigar room was bright and I especially love the balcony on the outside.

If the weather is nice, the balcony would be a perfect spot to chill or maybe take some OOTD at the same time.

As for the main hall, it was a breathe-taking moment for all of us. Walking into the main hall, we were greeted by maybe the most spacious dining area that I've ever seen! (ok.. maybe I'm just not that well-exposed...).

Now, back to the food!!

Some pickles to awaken our taste buds before starting our meal.

Ruyi’s Sushi (RM 43). The famous “sushi” from Ruyi & Lyn. If you are active on social media, you would have definitely seen A LOT of these “sushi” photos. Despite the name sushi, it is actually not sushi. These cute bite-size sushi are the nation’s smallest combination of Hainanese Chinese Rice, Nasi Lemak and Mango Sticky Rice. Talk about good food with nice plating and photogenic at the same time!

The Fried Chicken Skin (RM 18) was extremely addictive... especially when they were generously coated with salted egg! The best part of this dish was, the chicken skin were still crispy and not greasy at the end of the meal. I highly recommend this dish!!! Oh ya~~ we were told that Ruyi & Lyn plan to sell these delicious babies in MBO cinemas. I guess my movie experience is going to be a whole lot better with these! ^_^

A new dish at Ruyi & Lyn. The HeHe HaHa (RM 68) is a trio of deep fried prawns coated with different sauce:
- Yellow - Salted egg. The salted egg flavours were quite mild.
- Green - Wasabi mayo. Personally, I would prefer the wasabi to be more pronounced.
- Red - Raspberry Jam. The sweet raspberry jam was a very interesting pairing with the prawn.

Tofu "Flower" (RM 68). As saying goes "Don't judge a book by its cover". I'd say, don't judge a bowl of soup by its look. The tofu was carefully hand-sliced by very experience chef, Chef James Ho, served with abalone slices and saffron.

It was so much fun watching the tofu "bloom" as we poured in the soup.

Sip after sip, the soup was just bursting with the umami flavours of abalone and scallop. If you are looking for something to warm you up, this is the perfect choice! We love the soup so much that we finish every single drop of it.

Chocolate Lamb (RM 138). Another new dish on Ruyi & Lyn's menu. I've seen this dish multiple times but this was my first time actually trying out. The lamb chops were super tender and melt in your mouth, and the mild bitterness of the chocolate goes perfectly well with the lamb.

If you've never had lamb with chocolate sauce before, you'd love this!

Curry Fried Rice (RM 22 - Small | RM 68 - Large). We were hit by a whiff of curry aroma the moment this dish was served. To give the dish better texture, Chef James Ho used both white rice and glutinous rice in this dish. Curry can be over-powering at times, but this is not the case. The hint of aromatic curry flavours in the sauce with seafood was very appetizing.

Every mouthful was just packed with creamy-aromatic goodness!

Virgin Lychee Mojito (RM 25). A very refreshing and cooling drink to have, especially with the slight minty flavours in it.

Mango Peach Martini (RM 25). Fruity yet not too sweet, despite having mango and peach in it.

Strawberry Pina Colada (RM 25). The pina colada was slightly on the creamier side, but I enjoyed the hint of sourness from the strawberries.

Passion Fruit Mojito (RM 25). If you enjoy the tartness of passion fruit, you'd love this. It's fruity and very thirst-quenching.

I love how adventurous Ruyi & Lyn is with their menu. From food to drinks, a lot of thoughts have been put into it, not just on their surprise elements, but in terms of the quality of the dishes too.
Some might say the pricing are too steep, but if you are looking to have non-traditional Chinese dishes, Ruyi & Lyn is certainly a highly recommended place.

On the side note, Ruyi & Lyn still start to serve their new dishes (HeHe HaHa and Chocolate Lamb) starting from 18th March 2017. Don't forget to make your reservation before dropping by, as they are always full house!

Tujoh Cafe @ Seksyen 17, Petaling Jaya: Comfy Leafy-Courtyard Cafe to Chill

Located along the stretch of traditional kopitiam at Seksyen 17, there stands a modern cafe named Tujoh. With so many cafes in Klang Valley, Tujoh took a very different route with their interior.

Stepping into the cafe, I couldn't help but get attracted to their courtyard-style interior. Although there are a few cafes around town with the same concept, but it is always nice to find new places with such design.

The name "Tujoh" was inspired by the lot number "617", and also the traditional Malay spelling of the number "7".

The paintings in the cafe were drawn by a friend of the owners, and the radios and televisions around the cafes are his personal collections.

We were at the cafe just after lunch crowd, but the place was still pretty crowded. Having said so, I considered ourselves to be really lucky to get the seat at the courtyard (seriously can't help but to love this leafy corner!).

Started off our meal with a bowl of Soft Shell Crab Goma Salad (RM 23). Crispy soft shell crab tossed in goma dressing.

Moroccan Baked Eggs (RM 20). The baked eggs were so flavourful and I enjoyed it a lot, but it was a tad salty towards the end.

Wild Mushrooms & Vegetables Ragout (RM 13). Stewed with varieties of mushrooms and root vegetables, the ragout was creamy and rich. Unless you have a big appetite, it is recommended to share the ragout.

I love the Mentai-glazed Salmon (RM 32) so much that I went back the 2nd time and ordered the same dish. Flaky salmon with crispy skin topped with savoury mentai sauce and chuncky garlic mashed potaotes at the side, what's not to love about this dish?

Creamy Tomyam Fettucine (RM 16). The pasta has very minimal spiciness but the tomyam flavours could be slightly more pronounced.

Italian Cream (RM 12.50). Looking at the layer of cream, I was mentally-preparing myself that the cake is going to be really sweet. It turned out to be otherwise. The cake was moist, and the sweetness was just nice - even for someone without any sweet-tooth.

Banana Caramel (RM 11.50). Moist banana cake generously coated with salted caramel. This is perfect if you have always been a fan of banana cake and caramel. Personally, it was a tad too sweet for me. Still prefer the Italian Cream though.

A nice cuppa Flat White (RM 10) to go with all the yummy food.

Hojicha Latte (RM 12). The toasty flavour and mild bitterness of the hojicha is a good option for non-coffee drinker.

Orange Zinger (RM 12) - one of the healthy cold-press options at Tujoh. Instead of pure orange juice, they have added some ginger to it. The mild aftertaste of the ginger was very soothing.

On top of the comfy ambiance and nice food, the staffs at Tujoh were really friendly and attentive. Despite the crowd when we were there, the cafe did not get too noisy or uncomfortable. I actually saw a few people took their laptop and made that place their workstation of the day. With the portion given, the pricing at Tujoh is considerably-reasonable.

We were told by the owners that they are working on their 1st floor and hopefully it will be opened to public soon. Can't wait!

For any updates on Tujoh, do visit their Facebook.
